Software Director, Universal Robots

Work in the heart of our Software organization

Based in Boston, this position will report to and work with VP Research & Development. Our global R&D Management team consists of 7 R&D managers. In your role you will have at least 15 passionate employees divided in two teams, reporting to you. One team focusses on software development and the other focuses on test automation. They collaborate with other employees in UX, Software Development and Quality Assurance, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), Test Automation, Release Cycle optimization and Release Coordination.

Develop your teams and the overall direction for the functions across the software organization

As manager, you will foster a positive and open mindset in your team that focus on collaboration and team spirit not only within the team but also across the whole company. Your primary task will be to help build an inspiring setting where performance, job satisfaction, motivation and employee development are key elements. Together with your teams you will be responsible for developing the next generation of Universal Robots’ high-level software.

Responsibilities:

  • Implementation of processes and strategies
  • Overall software capacity and project execution for the site in Boston
  • Affecting and implementing central initiatives for the software area
  • Resourcing of innovation projects
  • Project management in coordination with PMO
  • Leading the teams to drive execution of our roadmap
  • Budget
  • Drive site management of the Boston office and collaborate with rest of Boston office management and facilities management to create a safe and productive work environment

As a people manager, you play an essential role as decision-maker and role model, and as you will lead technical specialists, you will need to possess the technical knowledge to understand their work.

The right candidate is an excellent communicator and cooperates smoothly across all levels and cultures of the organization and thrive in an independent position.

Required skills and experience

  • Have proven experience within software development, with a strong track record of leadership in technology strategy and product delivery
  • A degree in a technical major such as computer science, robotics, or equivalent work experience
  • Exhibit an understanding of the product development methods and disciplines required to create user-facing software for a collaborative robot
  • Strong engineering delivery and execution track record using agile continuous deployment process
  • Proven skills in building leadership talent pipeline thru coaching/mentoring, collaboration beyond boundaries, and leading change.
  • A mindset of continuous improvement and making this part of the DNA of the team
