Field Service Engineer

Organization & Role

Field Service Engineers in Production Support and Interface Solutions (PSI) will have opportunity to experience a range of activities, which vary week to week and sometimes day to day. The main responsibilities include:
1.    Respond to customer needs at the customer site to repair down systems
2.    Perform regularly scheduled maintenance on Teradyne systems at customer sites

Responsibilities

•    Installing and de-installing test systems
•    Training customers on proper maintenance procedures
•    Travel to customer sites that occasionally require plane flights
•    Able to make travel to assist WW teams on an extended period
•    Document best practices
•    Create proper documentation for all service work completed
•    Collect and present service data (board and labor usage, MTBF, etc.) to customer
•    Size and quote services
•    Displays professionalism, understanding, tact, fairness, and technical knowledge in all internal and external customer interactions
•    Achieves specified revenue targets while satisfying customer from instrument repair, installs and PM’s.
•    Manage cases, time logs, expenses, and spare parts inventory in a timely and accurate manner.
•    During working hours, maintains availability providing prompt communications by phone, email, text and IM.

 

Customer Support

•    Provide technical support to customer and field team either on-site or through phone or email. Participate in cost reduction,
•    productivity improvement program initiated
•    Participate in cross-functional team (field- team, customers, and factory) on escalated issues or improvement work

Basic Qualifications & Skills

•    Knowledge of Teradyne tester platforms preferred
•    Five or more years’ experience servicing ATE

•    Apply structured approach to problem solving.
•    Sensitive to the needs in communication and effective follow-up till resolution of issues.
•    Effective in handling situation in crisis by following applicable Teradyne process (e.g., SPR, flagging PCFD)
•    Basic software troubleshooting skills (example: PCFD)
•    Self-driven in pursuing technical knowledge related to the job
•    Effective in influencing customers, factory, and Sales management with correct and up to date information in his decision
•    making and capable of making best decision under situational constraints.
•    Familiarity with DMM, Power Supplies, Frequency Counters
•    Knowledge of programming a plus
•    Maintains their technical competency level servicing new instrument and problems by attending trainings, staff meetings and
•    remaining up to speed on new products, markets, customers, and competitors.

•    Provides solutions to a wide range of new and undocumented technical and work processes problems across WW accounts or
•    regional field goals
•    Demonstrate problem solving skill that requires complex analysis of undefined problems where symptoms are not clear and
•    require identification and coordination of problem resolution and resources in multiple functions, locations, or discipline
•    (Customers, Cross-functional field team and Factory).

•    Contributes to the achievement of Field and customer goals
•    Work effectively with customers and cross functional team
•    Participate in cross-functional structured improvement in the achievement of Field and customer goals.
•    Drive customer improvement projects.

Education

•    College degree

This position requires employees to be fully vaccinated or subject to weekly testing for onsite access.
