THE ROLE

Due to rapid growth, we are looking for a proactive and motivated individual to be an Applications Engineer at AutoGuide Mobile Robots based in North Reading, MA. With a new and expanding portfolio of mobile robots, this role is very tactical to help launch our new platforms and has tremendous career upside. Reporting to the Director of Applications Engineering, this position involves helping companies in manufacturing, distribution, and warehousing, that are looking to achieve productivity improvement through mobile robot system deployment.  We are ideally looking for someone who can work a hybrid schedule from our North Reading, MA headquarters 1-2 days a week, but this can be fully remote for the right candidate in the eastern time zone.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working alongside the Regional Sales Managers, act as the technical expert during the sales cycle, educating the customers on the company technology, products, applications, and system concept of operations.
  • Develop system design and development tools and templates to improve department workflow effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Create API driven workflows for robots to solve customer business problems and increase the value add of automation.
  • Collect customer requirements data and formulate system design concepts including specifying equipment, designing system layouts, and developing system simulation models that predict system level performance.
  • Present technical proposals and execute customer proof of concept demonstrations.
  • Provide technical sales support for customer inquiries and RFQs.
  • Attain mobile robot industry expertise, keeping up to date on technology, trends, and industry benchmarks.
  • Periodically represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows and symposiums.
  • 25-30% travel

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • 8+ years of experience in robotic or material handling automation: ideally with some background in mobile robotics (AGVs or AMRs), material conveyance, or robotic material handling.
  • Familiarity with controls logic, remote I/O and API use
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to recognize and address the interests of technical, user, and managerial customers.
  • Computer skills: Proficiency in AutoCad, AutoTurn, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, salesforce, DraftSight, and Emulate 3D preferred
  • Qualified applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States. 

 

EDUCATION

  • A BS in Engineering: Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred
