Organization & Role

This key role requires a hands-on technical manager to lead a small and effective team of software quality engineers. The Software QA manager is responsible for creating and maintaining a scalable software test strategy, associated tests, and quality metrics to ensure delivery of high quality software. Under the guidance of the QA manager the QA team is responsible for the design, implementation and execution of tests resulting in high quality software for AutoGuide’s portfolio of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs).

 

Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

  • Recruit, directly supervise, mentor and coach software test engineers at different levels of experience
  • Analyze software requirements for system features
  • Provide technical and management oversight for the development of test strategy, test plans, verification test cases and associated test design documents based on requirements
  • Assist with the development and execution of test cases and documenting results
  • Manage the planning and execution of product testing efforts and associated resources to meet committed delivery dates
  • Provide technical and management oversight for the development and implementation of test automation
  • Review outstanding defect reports and provide input regarding usage and severity
  • Coordinate resolution of issues to closure including verifying defect fixes are appropriate and adequate and providing relevant documentation
  • Interact and collaborate with groups such as Development and Customer Support to manage and respond to software quality issues
  • Develop and report quality assurance metrics with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Learn AutoGuide product specific technical knowledge and skills required to effectively communicate and resolve issues

 

Basic Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of software quality assurance and customer interface experience
  • Experience with industrial automation and robotics
  • Ideally 3+ years of experience as a technical lead or team lead
  • Demonstrated creativity and initiative to improve product test coverage and effectiveness
  • Experience with software QA in an Agile software development environment
  • Strong leadership skills that inspire team confidence and respect while motivating team members in a creative and effective manner
  • Experience in programming with .NET and C# is a plus
