Sr. DevOps Engineer

 At AutoGuide Mobile Robots we don’t just work on components and parts, we create choreography for fleets of cooperative mobile robots. Our autonomous mobile robots are custom designed—from the first piece of steel to the last screw—to move around the biggest, most complex factory floors in the world. We’re seeking big-picture thinkers to join our team.

 

As Senior DevOps Engineer you will join our global team building and maintaining tools that make it easier to develop software, deploy, and support our autonomous forklifts in the US and abroad. As part of our team, you will mentor other developers and help lead our efforts to architect, design, implement and test new infrastructure for our pipelines and production monitoring systems which will help our team ship and support high-quality software quickly and reliably. You will work with back-end developers, roboticists, and data scientists to build tools that help them do their jobs better and happier.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer who can write code to solve specific problems but also sees the value in reusing off-the-shelf tooling to ship infrastructure solutions more quickly. Past experience in data engineering or robotics are big pluses, but this position would be great for a DevOps engineer interested in learning more about those domains.

 

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Create, improve, and maintain our continuous integration, build, and deployment pipelines.
  • Work with and mentor software engineering team members.
  • Incorporate and balance various perspectives and needs to innovate solutions that improve the usability of the product.
  • Develop bringing up processes for robots and physical systems, including manual and automated processes.
  • Streamline pipeline, scripts, and frameworks for continuous integration, build (robotics, software), test (software, low-level hardware components, high-level robot functionality), and deployment to ensure quality and performance standards.
  • Help debugging system-level issues on robots and other onsite systems.
  • Own process for provisioning a robot and own package configuration management (Ansible, Docker, etc.)
  • Help build an amazing software team by participating in our hiring process.

Basic Qualifications & Skills

  • 5+ years in commercial software development building clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
  • Expert knowledge preferred in C# and .NET (C++ acceptable).
  • Experience in Python, Docker, and Cloud container orchestration such as Kubernetes, AWS ECS, or similar.
  • Experience with Linux administration and on-premise servers.
  • Experience with build systems such as CMake, Bazel, or similar.
  • Experience with CI systems such as Github CI, Gitlab CI, Jenkins, Circle CI, or similar.
  • Experience with cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or other cloud PaaS.
  • Experience in Networking (routing, firewalls, subnet configuration, etc.)
  • Excellent collaborative, communication, and documentation skills.

  • Advanced degree in computer science, related field, or equivalent experience.
  • New ideas and approaches to contribute to our culture of innovation and excellence.

 

Bonus Points For

  • Experience with full product lifecycle and microservices design and implementation.
  • Familiarity with robot or IoT frameworks, such as ROS.

Education

  • BS or MS in computer science, computer engineering, or related field from a university or engineering institution
