Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer

LitePoint is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Process Engineer to lead the development of innovative manufacturing processes solutions and capabilities in microwave and mmWave technologies. The focus of this position is on surface mount attach of specialty components and advanced process development for custom, cutting edge fabrication technologies for high performance microwave and mm-wave applications. As part of the Operations group, this position will play an important role in defining and applying modern assembly processes to empower demanding requirements of microwave and mmWave implementations.


This position requires employees to be fully vaccinated or subject to weekly testing for onsite access.



  • Define, improve, and create new SMT assembly processes for microwave and mmWave applications by setting processes parameters and determining acceptable limits for manufacturing
  • Manage suppliers, and contract manufacturers to identify and reduce defects and process abnormalities to improve yields through continuous process improvement efforts
  • Participate and provide input into the PCB design specifications and standards with respect to product design, electrical design, manufacturing, and various regulatory agency requirements to determine trade-offs
  • Work closely with cross-functional stake holders to define processes and product performance targets
  • Guide CAD engineers with new footprints, creating valor packages, review and approve technical questionnaires
  • Collaborate with R&D in reviewing engineering designs, both electrical PCBAs and mechanical enclosures
  • Provide design reviews for quality and reliability requirements. (DFx)
  • Continuously build internal reliability and FA best-in-class standard and practices with respect to new materials and technologies
  • Also play key role both setting up qualification requirements for CM and fab houses as well as transferring knowledge from one location to the other


  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Material Engineering with strong fundamentals in microwave and mm wave design and manufacturing
  • 8-10 years of direct manufacturing process engineering experience with RF/microwave/mm wave designs
  • Understand the requirements for microwave and mm wave design, processes, and procedures to ensure product design has manufacturing considerations
  • Previous experience in technical coordination with Engineering, products design, test, compliance, and manufacturing
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes including surface mount packaging, reflow soldering, wire bonding, die attach, circuit board materials, and related topics
  • Understanding of the link between design rules, industry capability and the specific processes required to meet various capability levels
  • Familiarity with production processes such as lean Six Sigma, continuous improvement, SPC techniques and FMEA
  • Extensive experience in successful transfer of new RF/microwave technologies into manufacturing
  •  Must be able to work full-time in San Jose office


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and direct company-wide reliability and FA at corporate level to use and maintain best-in-class reliability and FA activities
  • Also manage Quality related Tableau charts and product quality reports
  • Work with supply chain and sustaining to qualify new/alternate parts
  • Manage product compliance projects and programs
