Opportunity Overview
Senior Field Applications Engineer Photonics & High-Speed I/O – North America
We are looking for a Senior Field Applications Engineer Photonics & High-Speed I/O to support customers with their test and measurement challenges and grow our business in North America.
Your main responsibilities will be to work with customers and advise on technical solutions, perform product demos and support technical on-site evaluations. Furthermore, you will establish and maintain contact with target customers and promote the company’s products and solutions at trade shows and conferences. In this role you will work with customers as peers in the industry, and act as a consultant to help solve their test and measurement challenges related to R&D, validation/characterization and high-volume manufacturing test.
You will be working very closely with the Regional Sales Manager to maximize our footprint in the region, and you will be measured on achieving and exceeding sales targets and building a network of key customers in the industry.
Ideally, applicants will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area and will be comfortable working remotely. Other North American locations will be taken into consideration as well.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Support customers and accounts in North America focused on electrical and optical communication such as Photonic and Electrical IC developers, optical transceiver companies, test houses, OSATs, and equipment developers.
- Cooperate closely with the Regional Sales Manager to maximize potential business opportunities and achieve/exceed the sales targets.
- Interpret customer requirements, identify optimal solutions to meet those needs, and provide consultative services to support customer challenges.
- Automation support including test flow optimization, debugging and providing of examples.
- Create technical proposals with detailed test configurations, clearly articulating its value proposition.
- Build complex test setups and execute experiments to generate data and test results as proof points for customers.
- Provide first and second level technical support to customers.
- Perform product demonstration and support on-site technical evaluations.
- Provide excellent customer service and support.
- Promote existing and new products to customers in person, at trade shows and online sales presentations.
- Maintain positive long-term relationships with key customers.

Candidate requirements
- Bachelor’s degree ideally in Physics (Photonics) or Electrical Engineering or other related discipline.
- 5 or more years of experience in a customer-facing technical support role in Photonics and/or HSIO.
- At least 2 years of experience in a technical role testing, defining and/or designing Photonics or HSIO products.
- Experience with Photonics & High-Speed I/O test and measurement solutions. For example: sampling oscilloscopes, BERTs, tunable lasers, optical spectrum analyzers, etc.
- Software automation expertise with API, SCPI, gRPC, PXIe, and experience with common programming languages such as Python, C++.
- Knowledge of optical and electrical communication ecosystem in North America.
- Network of optical and electrical communication customers, such as start-ups, established companies, potential partners, to advanced research institutes and universities.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills in Photonics & HSIO field of expertise.

Compensation
The base salary range for this role is $170,500-$272,800. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.
Incentive Plan: This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
