Opportunity Overview
The Hardware Engineer – Signal Delivery position in Agoura Hills works within a group of Electrical Engineers and Mechanical Engineers as part of the Signal Delivery Group. The group is in the Compute Test Division that designs and manufactures Automatic Test Equipment for the Semiconductor Industry.

 

This is an entry level position for someone who will be a member of an innovative and collaborative team that designs, simulates, and validates Signal Delivery solutions consisting of Complex Cable Assemblies, PCBs and interposers. The candidate in this position also helps to develop custom test fixture hardware and software and employs test fixtures to validate the performance and durability of our Signal Delivery solutions.

 

  • “Work within the Signal Delivery Group assisting and supporting development transmission line solutions for High-Speed Digital, Power and RF instruments used in various Teradyne test systems.
    • These solutions deliver signals from Instrument boards through a series of connectors, cables, boards, and interposers to the customers devices located in socket on a handler interface board or to wafers located inside of a prober and are integral to the performance of our instrument products.
    • Assist in design and development of high-speed digital delivery systems that include differential signals with fast rise times and precise eye diagrams operating from 100s of Mbps to more than 100 Gbps.
    • Assist in design and development of power delivery systems that include low voltage (10 v), low current (2 A), massively parallel; High voltage (600 V), High current (2,000 A); all with low inductance and low DC resistance.
    • Assist in design and development of RF signal delivery systems that operate from 100’s of MHz to 100 GHz.
  • Collaborate with team members and work under the supervision of senior engineers to
    • Develop specifications, requirements, and validation plans
    • Prototype and test signal delivery solutions, including supporting test fixtures
    • Develop concepts for future products for various portions of the signals path.
    • Support Program Management and Engineering Leadership with summary work and technical reports
  • Design phases include:
    • Develop various concepts to transmit signals through portions of the signal path.
    • Simulate concepts with 3D SI tools in the Frequency or Time domain.  Refine and improve concepts based on simulation results.
    • Create schematics, block diagrams, and requirements documents
    • Design multi-layer printed circuit boards including rigid and flex boards
    • Fabricate and prototype with various vendors
    • Develop and fabricate test fixtures used to evaluate prototypes and validate solutions.
    • Write code for test fixture automation, control, data collection and investigation
    • Test concepts in the laboratory for performance and durability.
    • Compare test results to simulations and requirements, improve design as needed.
    • Develop and validate products to a point where they are ready for release to production.

Minimum Qualification & Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Exposure to and understanding of electromagnetic wave theory, transmission line theory, impedance matching, skin effect, dielectric loss, etc.
  • Ability to operate and understand laboratory equipment including: VNA, PNA, Power Meters, TDR, Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscope, 4-wire meter, VOM, etc.
  • Programming experience using C/C++, Python, Scripting, MATLAB or LabWindows
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills, including effective presentations
  • Excellent troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications & Requirements

  • M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience using C/C++, Python to control electronics and test equipment
  • Understand signal theory in both the Time and Frequency domains
  • Experience using Signal and power integrity simulations tools: Ansoft HFSS, CST, HSpice, Power SI, MATLAB, Agilent ADS, or equivalent
  • Experience with E-CAD programs such as Cadence HDL, Allegro
  • Experience with Solidworks or similar 3D CAD for design of mechanical parts and assemblies and for creating mechanical drawings
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams designing complex electromechanical and software systems
  • Experience with PCB fabrication, including working with PCB vendors to solve problems.
  • Experience working with vendors to co-develop products, evaluate new technologies or resolve tooling and manufacturing problems
