Opportunity Overview
Teradyne is seeking a Technical Software Engineering Manager I to lead a small team of software engineers within the Compute Software Solutions organization located in Agoura Hills, California. This leader will be responsible for managing approximately 4-5 engineers while remaining closely engaged in technical execution, software architecture discussions, project planning, and cross-functional collaboration.
The successful candidate will provide day-to-day leadership for software development activities supporting compute and automation solutions. This role requires balancing people leadership, technical guidance, and operational execution to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet business objectives and customer needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 4-5 software engineers.
- Manage software development schedules, priorities, and resource planning.
- Guide technical design discussions and software architecture decisions.
- Support development of scalable, maintainable, and reliable software solutions.
- Establish team objectives and ensure successful execution of project deliverables.
- Collaborate with product, systems, hardware, quality, and program management teams.
- Conduct performance and development discussions while fostering employee growth.
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering practices, development processes, and quality standards.
- Monitor project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure software solutions align with organizational goals, customer requirements, and industry best practices.
- Contribute to workforce planning, hiring activities, and onboarding of new team members.
- Support business planning activities and execution of organizational priorities.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
- 7+ years of software development experience.
- Prior technical leadership experience leading projects or small engineering teams.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience delivering commercial or enterprise software products.
- Experience with object-oriented programming and modern software development methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of software architecture, code quality practices, testing methodologies, and source control systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and drive execution through others.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous people management or formal supervisory experience.
- Experience in automation, test systems, compute solutions, or related engineering environments.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies.
- Experience leading cross-functional development initiatives.

Compensation:
The base salary range for this role is $165,700-$265,200. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.
Incentive Plan: This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
