Opportunity Overview:
As the Supplier Quality Engineer, Signal Delivery, you will be responsible for technical sourcing, process development and product quality for signal delivery products. Signal delivery products are critical electro-mechanical assemblies connecting Teradyne instruments to the customer device. Your main focus will be on new product development but you’ll have ownership of product quality throughout the entire product life cycle. In this role you will work with internal engineering organizations to enable product design early in the design cycle to minimize cost while maximizing supply chain flexibility and long-term quality.
As part of the design team you will use your manufacturing and supply base knowledge to influence product design, material selection, manufacturing methods and critical specifications. Additionally, you will identify high-risk components/suppliers in the new product development process. In conjunction with commodity team and design group, you will work to develop risk avoidance or mitigation plans and may execute shift in supplier strategy based on risk factors.
You will:
- Manage supplier tooling and test process development to ensure the supplier has the capacity, flexibility, and quality gates in place to allow for uninterrupted supply in high volume manufacturing.
- Manage technical aspects of the Supplier Process Audit and Qualification Process.
- Responsible for the assessment of suppliers including evaluation of reliability, design validity, process capability and capacity evaluations.
- Drive gage R&R and/or Measurement System Analysis studies with suppliers on complex mechanical and electrical test fixtures.
- Work with suppliers to execute part qualification processes aligned with the complexity of various parts.
- Responsible for driving root cause analysis and corrective actions for supplier quality events, issuing and driving root cause and corrective action activities where necessary.

- BS in mechanical, manufacturing, or electrical engineering
- 10+ years of process development experience in an electronics manufacturing environment
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, must be well versed in the DMAIC process
- Working knowledge of Six Sigma tools (control plans, process capability, PFMEA, Gage R&R, SPC) with demonstrated track record of results.
- The ability to manage several projects simultaneously with competing priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Ability to travel up to 20% both domestic and international
- Preferred - Working level knowledge of the science of soldering, solder process controls
- Preferred - Understanding of basic signal transmission concepts (impedance, insertion loss, return loss)
- Preferred - Six Sigma Black Belt certification - Desired
- Preferred - Experience with mechanical fixture design (poke yoke tooling) -Desired
- Preferred - Manufacturing experience with complex electro-mechanical design
Compensation:
The base salary range for this role is $116,600- $186,500. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.
Incentive Plan: This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
