Teradyne's Nextest division is seeking a Senior Calibration and Diagnostics Engineer to join our growing Costa Rica engineering team. This role is responsible for leading the development, maintenance, and enhancement of calibration, characterization, and diagnostic solutions supporting advanced semiconductor memory test platforms.

The successful candidate will serve as a technical leader within the organization, driving complex problem resolution, mentoring engineers, and partnering with global engineering teams to improve product performance, manufacturing efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of calibration, characterization, and diagnostic software for ATE platforms.
  • Develop advanced software solutions for precision measurement and instrumentation systems.
  • Analyze complex hardware and software interactions to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Drive technical investigations involving manufacturing, system reliability, and customer-reported issues.
  • Collaborate closely with Hardware, FPGA, Systems, Product Engineering, and Manufacturing teams across global locations.
  • Develop automation tools and data analytics solutions to improve engineering productivity and product quality.
  • Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, and code reviews.
  • Support new product introductions and ensure successful transitions to manufacturing.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on software quality, calibration efficiency, and diagnostics coverage.
  • Contribute to technical roadmaps and engineering best practices.

Minimum job requirements:

  • BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
  • English Proficiency.
  • 8 years of experience in:
        • Software development experience.
        • C++ and object-oriented software design.
        • Strong understanding of electronics, instrumentation, and measurement systems.
        • Ability to read and interpret hardware schematics, block diagrams, and technical specifications.
        • Troubleshooting complex hardware/software systems.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with semiconductor ATE systems.
  • Experience with calibration, characterization, or diagnostics software.
  • Knowledge of high-speed digital systems and signal integrity concepts.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD processes, and software development best practices.
  • Experience with Python, MATLAB, or data analytics tools.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, PCIe, and GPIB.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical projects.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques including Six Sigma, Cp, and Cpk.
