Opportunity Overview

Teradyne is seeking an experienced Buyer for a 1-year temporary, remote assignment supporting the Purchasing team in Costa Rica. This position procures materials, products, and services that support manufacturing and business operations while helping achieve cost, quality, and delivery objectives.

The Buyer works with suppliers, Teradyne contract manufacturers, and internal stakeholders to manage purchase orders, monitor performance, resolve delivery issues, support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, and execute sourcing initiatives. This role helps ensure continuity of supply between Teradyne and its contract manufacturing partners while supporting operational and business objectives.

• Execute purchasing activities for assigned commodities, materials, and services.
• Create and manage purchase orders to support timely material availability.
• Coordinate procurement activities with Teradyne contract manufacturers to support production schedules.
• Monitor demand, inventory, shortages, supplier delivery, and material availability with contract manufacturing partners.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) builds by coordinating material readiness, supplier commitments, and delivery schedules to meet program milestones.
• Partner with engineering, planning, operations, and contract manufacturing teams to support prototype, pre-production, and production ramp activities.
• Monitor material availability for NPI programs and proactively identify and mitigate supply risks that may impact build schedules.
• Collaborate with planning, manufacturing, engineering, operations, finance, and supplier quality teams.
• Analyze purchasing trends, supplier performance, inventory requirements, and supply risks.
• Support cost reduction, supplier optimization, business continuity, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Resolve supply chain, logistics, quality, and material issues that may affect contract manufacturing operations.
• Maintain accurate procurement records and follow company policies and procedures.
• Support supplier onboarding, qualification, performance reviews, and relationship management.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional and global teams in a remote environment.

Minimum job requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, or a related field.
• English Proficiency
• 5+ years in:
  • • Purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or related experience.
    • Purchasing processes, supplier management, and procurement practices.
    • Supporting contract manufacturing, NPI builds, and global supply chain operations.
    • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
    • Excel
