Opportunity Overview
We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer (MFE) for New Product Introduction (NPI) to lead manufacturing process transfer, assembly process development, manufacturing readiness, and production ramp activities for new product introduction programs.
This role requires a fully qualified, experienced manufacturing engineering professional with complete knowledge of manufacturing principles, process development, product transfer, assembly methods, tooling, documentation, and production readiness. The Senior MFE will work independently, assess unusual technical and operational issues, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions that support manufacturability, quality, throughput, cycle time, cost, and schedule performance.
The position will focus on transferring manufacturing processes, defining and improving assembly work processes, developing manufacturing documentation and database content, and ensuring new products are ready for controlled release into manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
-
Lead manufacturing readiness activities for assigned NPI programs, including process transfer, pilot build support, validation, qualification, release readiness, and production ramp.
-
Develop, transfer, and stabilize manufacturing processes, assembly work processes, tooling strategy, fixtures, test interfaces, and production support methods for new products.
-
Create and maintain manufacturing process documentation, Assembly Work Instructions, process flow references, build readiness checklists, and database content required for NPI execution.
-
Assess manufacturability through DFM/DFA reviews and identify risks related to yield, cycle time, throughput, quality, labor content, tooling, capacity, materials, and process capability.
-
Use structured problem solving and data analysis to investigate build issues, identify root causes, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
-
Lead cross-functional resolution of manufacturing issues involving Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Program Management, Product Support, and external partners.
-
Define manufacturing requirements for pilot builds, engineering builds, process validation, production qualification, and transition to sustaining manufacturing.
-
Evaluate incomplete or conflicting information, apply judgment, and recommend practical solutions based on technical risk, production impact, and business priority.
-
Support successful product transfer into manufacturing by ensuring process readiness, trained resources, released documentation, available tooling, material readiness, and clear ownership of open actions.
-
Advise less experienced engineers and cross-functional partners on manufacturing methods, NPI execution, documentation discipline, and problem-solving approach.
Senior-Level Expectations
-
Applies complete knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles, NPI execution, process development, assembly methods, tooling, and production readiness.
-
Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis requires evaluation of technical, operational, quality, cost, and schedule factors.
-
Develops solutions using limited information, precedent, data, engineering judgment, and practical manufacturing experience.
-
Operates independently on day-to-day work and receives general direction on new assignments, with review focused on critical milestones, risk points, and release readiness.
-
Builds effective relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders and can influence teams that may not be familiar with the manufacturing details.
