Opportunity Overview

  • To manage assigned commodities and lead cross functional teams to solve supplied material issues (commercial, technical, quality etc).
  • Assure Continuity of Supply so that Teradyne can maintain On Time Customer Delivery in Very Cyclical Environment with Long Product Life Cycles.
  • Drive Strategic Direction for the Commodity including who we work with (the supplier's), where they are located, the type of value they provide, and the continuous improvement of their performance.
  • Lead an extended commodity team - which includes quality engineering, product engineering, marketing, factory support, NPI, and other interested parties.
  • Continuously improve R3CQ - Responsiveness, Reliability, Resiliency of the Products and Services, Cost Down, and Quality.
  • Utilize the various tools at the disposal of the commodity manager to foster these improvements:
  • Commodity Plans
  • Capacity Analysis/Planning
  • Scorecards
  • Penetration into expanding supply markets in SEA – Vietnam, Thailand, India and Indonesia
  • SBR (Supplier Business Reviews)
  • Support Cost Reviews (assure factory/subcontract costs are correct)

  • Bachelor’s degree in business and/or Engineering
  • Understands complex supply relations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management (internal and external)
  • Project Management Skills
  • Negotiation Skills and Hands on Experience
  • Ability to Interpret Mechanical drawings and component specifications
  • Experience working with stakeholders from multiple geographic locations, USA, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Europe
  • Understands 3 level supply chain - OEM (your role) - Contract Manufacturer (executes transactions) - Supplier (you manage)
  • Ability and Desire to work in a fast paced, "blurred" environment between multiple time zones and odd hours as required
  • Strong technical (mechanical preferred) skills and leadership is a great plus
  • Good Problem-Solving skill is a Must
  • Ability to influence without authority/position power
  • Ability to assemble and lead cross functional teams to solve complex commercial/technical/quality issues
  • Willingness and Desire to Travel as necessary
