Opportunity Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Test Engineer to support our contract manufacturing partners in Bukit Minyak, Penang. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in testing, validation, debugging, yield improvement, and resolving design issues to ensure high-quality products and continuous process optimisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing Burn-In, Electromechanical (EM), Computer Setup, and Final Circuit Testing (FCT) processes to ensure product quality and reliability.

  • Provide onsite test engineering support at contract manufacturing sites in Bukit Minyak, Penang.
  • Develop, update and maintain test procedures, initiate ECN (Engineering Change Notice) or deviations for design changes.
  • Manage and troubleshoot test performance across Burn-In, Electromechanical, FCT, and computer configurations process-including firmware flashing, BIOS settings, driver installation, and operating system deployment for embedded systems and computing platforms.
  • Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations for test-related issues, proactively identifying and mitigating potential risks.
  • Collaborate closely with design, process, quality, supply line, and hardware engineering teams to resolve product and test-related issues.
  • Document test results, generate reports, and present findings to engineering and management teams.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) transfer, component/cable/computer qualification, and software validation processes at manufacturing sites.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance test yield, test efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support contract manufacturing debugging methodologies and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Provide technical support for PIP (Prefect Installation Program) and field failures investigation.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and 5+ years of experience in Electrical Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong expertise in test failure analysis, hardware debugging, and root cause identification.
  • Hands-on experience with burn-in systems, Electromechanical (EM), computer setup, and FCT test.
  • Experience with ATE platforms, board-level test systems, FCT system level test environments.
  • Experience with debugging tools DMM, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment.
  • Good analytical and strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis tools (e.g. JMP, minitab), and yield improvement methodologies is a plus.
  • Experience with embedded systems, BIOS/firmware flashing, OS installation, and  knowledge of Teradyne SOC system is a plus.
  • Great communication skills in English, both written and oral, are required.
  • Eagerness to learn new things, strong self-discipline, and motivation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, in a team-oriented environment, and have leadership skills.
  • Willingness to travel to Thailand/Philippines manufacturing sites and other Teradyne sites for training purposes if necessary.
