Opportunity Overview
Defense & Aerospace Rotational Track (DART)
DART is an 18-month rotational program for new college graduates who want to build a career in applications engineering. As an Applications Engineer in the program, you will complete three six-month working assignments that start inside the product teams and move outward toward the customer. You begin in Quality Assurance, move to Total Test Solutions, and finish in either Systems Engineering or Field Applications Engineering, based on your interests and business needs. Each rotation has a rotation-specific manager, meaningful deliverables, and an end-of-rotation review with a presentation and written feedback. One hiring manager supports you for the full program. You are a full-time Teradyne Applications Engineer from day one. After 18 months, you continue in your role with a head start: hands-on experience across our products, our test programs, and our customers. The program starts in July 2027.
You will rotate through the following groups:
- Rotation 1 – Quality Assurance: Act as the first customer of new products. Test and qualify Teradyne instruments and systems across the Defense & Aerospace product line, build automated and manual test suites, and debug hardware.
- Rotation 2 – Total Test Solutions: Develop customer test program sets (TPS) end to end, from requirements through debug and delivery, for the electronics our defense and aerospace customers test on Teradyne systems.
- Rotation 3 – Systems Engineering or Field Applications Engineering: Complete your final rotation in one of two groups:
- Systems Engineering: Integrate, configure, and support complete automatic test equipment (ATE) systems, including system self-test and calibration programs, cables, and interface adapters.
- Field Applications Engineering: Work at customer sites under the guidance of experienced field engineers, deploying, troubleshooting, and supporting Teradyne test systems where customers use them.
In this role, you will:
- Develop, debug, and maintain test software and customer test programs in C/C++ and C# in a Microsoft Windows environment.
- Build hands-on lab skills by troubleshooting analog, digital, RF, and bus-communication hardware with oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and ATE instrumentation.
- Collaborate with Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and customers to isolate and resolve complex system-level problems.
- Apply what you learned in QA and TPS to complete test systems in Systems Engineering, or to customer programs on site in Field Applications Engineering.
- Deliver real results in each host group and present your outcomes and learnings in an end-of-rotation review with your rotation manager.
- Grow through close mentorship from experienced engineers and rotation managers in every group you join.
- Complete the program with a final review alongside your hiring manager and rotation managers, then continue in your Applications Engineer role.
