Opportunity Overview:
Teradyne is looking for an experienced Applications Manager for a Test Program Set (TPS) Development group. The TPS Development group is part of Teradyne’s engineering services providing Total Test Solutions to our customers. The group is responsible for designing, implementing, and delivering test solutions to customer requirements and specifications, with a focus on software test programs and system integration.
This role involves driving the development of customer test solutions in close collaboration with Teradyne’s cross-functional teams. The Applications Engineering Manager will be responsible for driving efficiency and process improvements, hiring, career development, coaching, resource planning, and functional reporting for a growing group of Applications Engineers.
** Must be able to be onsite in North Reading, MA min 3+ days/week
- Hiring, supervising and mentoring application engineers and team leads, fostering professional growth and technical excellence
- Driving process improvement and efficiencies across TPS development
- Creating and maintaining an aggregate project plan (APP) for the group that aligns with short-term and long-term needs of the division
- Collaborating with other department managers to align operational strategies with overall business goals
- Collaborating closely with teams such as sales and field applications to ensure seamless project execution
- Managing budget and ensuring cost efficiency
- Cultivating a diverse and inclusive, collaborative, positive team culture where everyone has impact, feels engaged and motivated, and can grow on their own personal journey

- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Applications Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a direct role of managing talent
- Knowledge of software development processes
- Ability to manage tradeoffs with regards to cost, cycle time, productivity, and predictability
- Solid verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Knowledge of and experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE)
- Commitment to excellence, efficiency, and product quality
- Ability to travel domestically – up to 20%
