Opportunity Overview 

Working on-site at Teradyne in North Reading , MA, you will be part of a talented team responsible for designing and developing electro-mechanical instrument and system platform assemblies used by the world’s largest electronics manufacturers. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the creation of cutting-edge solutions for a broad range of industries, from telecommunications to consumer electronics. Based in North Reading, MA, this individual will be an integral contributor to a multi-site, multifunctional engineering design, and product development team. Your role will involve:

 

  • Collaborating with Hardware and System Engineers to design, develop, and refine prototypes and mock-ups for testing platforms.
  • Creating custom electro-mechanical components and test fixtures tailored to specific application needs.
  • Conducting hands-on verification of design requirements through physical testing and analysis in the laboratory environment.
  • Contributing to the full product development lifecycle by working closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain.
  • Partnering with suppliers to obtain quotes, manage component sourcing, and ensure that designs are manufacturable with maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Participating in design reviews and ensuring that all products meet or exceed required specifications.
  • Assisting with system integration and troubleshooting, identifying potential issues, and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Documenting all phases of design work, including changes to specifications, analysis, and results of testing.
  • Supporting the production of prototype hardware and transitioning designs from the prototyping phase to full-scale manufacturing.

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Proficient in SolidWorks CAD software, with experience in creating detailed mechanical designs and assemblies.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams effectively.
  • Ability to think critically and solve complex problems with practical engineering solutions.
  • Highly curious and motivated, with a strong desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

 

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience in designing automation systems, integrating motors, slides, sensors, and controls.
  • Familiarity with basic electrical systems and wiring principles.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory testing.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with software or firmware development for embedded systems is a plus.

Compensation: 
The base salary range for this role is $69,200- $101,000. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.  

 

Incentive Plan: This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
