Opportunity Overview
The Teradyne Value Engineering team is looking for a highly-motivated, energetic, technically driven Mechanical Engineer to focus on the development of mechanical systems for cost-down initiatives within our Semiconductor Test Division. Development occurs in a dynamic and challenging multi-site environment. This person will report directly to the Value Engineering manager located at our headquarters in North Reading, MA.
Responsibilities:
- Generation of specifications, details, BOMs, and assemblies
- Understanding of product development and manufacturing processes
- Conceptualize, select, and present technical solutions to complex and highly integrated mechanical engineering problems
- DoE and hands-on design verification activities
- Implementation of DFM and DFA principles • Provide technical guidance, lessons learned, oversight, and support to mechanical design staff
- Small to medium project administration
- Travel to suppliers or engineering sites located throughout the world. Expected travel to be 5% to 10%

Qualifications & Skills:
- Must be able to generate mechanical designs and documentation of components and assemblies; This includes detailed technical drawings of piece parts and assemblies.
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD modeling tools such as SolidWorks or other applicable software
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of general drafting and design standards including ANSI Y14.5 and GD&T.
- Working knowledge of Compliance/Regulatory design requirements
- Ability to investigate technical fit and fabrication problems through tolerance analysis
- Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision
- Excellent organizational, communication, and integration skills including the ability to foster and sustain communication between cross-functional groups.
- Experience performing finite element analysis (FEA) using tools such as SolidWorks or Ansys
Education & Work Experience:
- BS or MS in mechanical engineering or related field from an engineering institution • Minimum of 2-3+ years of direct experience
