Opportunity Overview 

Teradyne’s Supply Base Management Engineering team is seeking a Supply Line Engineer to support complex mechanical parts for advanced test systems. You will help ensure precision machined components, plastic machined components, injection-molded parts, castings, and related assemblies meet performance, quality, cost, schedule, and manufacturability requirements from new product introduction through the full product lifecycle. 

 

  • Partner early with design engineering to influence architecture, material selection, manufacturing methods, critical specifications, and supplier selection. 

  • Develop clear, manufacturable technical requirements, including key characteristics, drawings, inspection methods, test expectations, and qualification criteria. 

  • Assess and qualify suppliers through design-for-manufacturability reviews, supplier assessments, process capability studies, measurement system analysis, pilot builds, audits, and production-readiness reviews. 

  • Develop suppliers for precision machining, plastics machining, injection molding, casting, finishing, and complex mechanical assemblies, with effective controls for tooling, inspection, measurement, PFMEA, control plans, and statistical process control. 

  • Collaborate across design, operations, supplier quality, commodity management, and supplier teams to identify risk, resolve quality issues, implement corrective actions, and improve yield, reliability, and process maturity. 

  • Support lifecycle readiness through approved vendor alignment, supplier change control, product change and end-of-life reviews, alternate sourcing, and continuity-of-supply planning.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Materials, or a related engineering discipline. 

  • 10 to 15 years of experience in supplier engineering, product engineering, process development, quality engineering, or mechanical component manufacturing. 

  • Strong understanding of mechanical design intent, geometric tolerancing, material selection, manufacturing variation, measurement methods, and process controls. 

  • Experience with precision machining, plastics machining, injection molding, casting, tooling, fixtures, secondary operations, and component finishing processes. 

  • Experience with supplier qualification, design for manufacturability, PFMEA, control plans, process capability, statistical process control, Gage R&R, and root cause and corrective action. 

  • Ability to translate design intent into supplier requirements, measurable controls, and qualification plans while managing multiple new product introduction and lifecycle priorities. 

  • Strong communication and influencing skills across engineering, operations, commodity management, supplier quality, and external suppliers. 

  • Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, datum strategy, CMM, vision and other inspection methods, and measurement correlation between suppliers and receiving inspection. 

  • Experience with CNC machining, molded plastic part design, tool design reviews, casting methods, heat treatment, plating, coating, surface finish, and cosmetic requirements. 

  • Experience with fixture design, mistake-proofing tooling, inspection plans, supplier process validation, and new product introduction phase-gate deliverables. 

  • Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent data-driven quality experience. 

  • Experience working with a global supply base.

Compensation:

The base salary range for this role is $120,700 - $193,100. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.

 

Incentive Plan: This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
