Scrum Master Job Description

Our Purpose

The Scrum Master helps build high-performing teams by providing support with product delivery utilizing a deep understanding of Agile principles, values, and team dynamics. The Scrum Master will coach and teach the team Agile practices, facilitate Scrum ceremonies, and shield the team from external distractions. The Scrum Master unites the Product Owner and the Developers to build a strong team culture and Team identity. They will also teach and train on the roles and functions within the scrum framework. As a Scrum Master, you will be working with multiples teams. 

Opportunity Overview

• Identifies trade-offs between short and long-term benefits to drive shared vision between the team and Product Owner
• Helps the team  understand each other’s roles and key objectives
• Will be a personal coach for team members and an innovator who constantly seeks continuous improvement.
• Monitors Scrum processes and supports Product Owner on release planning and backlog management/ grooming
• Fosters a continuous learning environment, helping teams adapt to changing circumstances
• Report on and provide visibility into overall team performance metrics including velocity, defect rates, and other performance measures
• Act as a subject matter expert for assigned products
• Assist product management with backlog grooming and pre-planning exercises including story refinement
• Strengthens the team’s understanding of Agile / Scrum principles and ensure application of these practices
• Ensures the team’s actions are aligned with the goals and vision
• Brings transparency to Business, IT, and Operations organizations about the team’s progress and Agile processes

All About You

• 8+ years of Scrum Master experience
• Certified Scrum Master III and/A-CSM preferred, CSP-SM
• Delivery or software development background (SDLC)
• Experience in Agile principles and managing teams/dynamics
• Should have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, or equivalent
• Strong facilitation and communication skills
• Responsible for roadblocks and risk management. Proposed Mitigation plans
• Ability to build high performing teams who produce successful deliverables and work effectively via individual and team coaching
• Strong team leader able to assess team spirit, facilitate positive team dynamics, and drive necessary actions to improve
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills
• Highly skilled in building relationships and navigating through organizations
• Experience coaching technical teams
• Experienced in JIRA and Jira Cloud
• Understanding of a DevOps environment
• Able to build a sense of trust and rapport that creates a comfortable & effective workplace
• Strengthens the team’s understanding of Agile / Scrum principles and ensure application of these practices
