Opportunity Overview

 

Teradyne is seeking an experienced Silicon Photonics Tester System Engineer to develop new test solutions for the mass production of silicon photonics devices, including wafers, optical engines, and co-packaged optics. This role involves designing and implementing active/passive alignment systems with sub-micron precision, reliability, and repeatability. A deep understanding of photonics, electronics, and software development is essential to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our testing processes.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Design and develop robotics and automation systems for silicon photonics testing
  • Create and integrate automated systems for development, testing, and production
  • Design optical systems, including path loss and signal integrity calculations
  • Develop control software to manage testing processes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define test requirements and specifications
  • Conduct data analysis to troubleshoot and optimize photonics devices
  • Maintain and improve existing test systems for enhanced performance and reliability
  • Document test procedures, results, and system configurations
  • Stay updated with advancements in silicon photonics and testing methodologies

  • Graduate degree in Science or Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience with system integration, robotics, control system design and analysis
  • Proficiency with silicon photonics devices and integrated circuits
  • Experience with high-speed data communication
  • Familiarity with optical testing equipment and methodologies
  • Understanding of fiber optic cables and connections
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a fast-moving team environment
  • Strong communication skills
