Opportunity Overview
Teradyne is seeking a Senior Principal Semiconductor Product Definer in the Silicon Strategy and Technology group working in close collaboration with the Memory business unit. The Memory business unit is experiencing rapid growth and seeks to accelerate that growth.
Over the last decade Teradyne has developed key strategic differentiation in Memory test by developing proprietary Pin Electronics (PE) IP. This complex IP is the foundation of multiple Memory ASICs that drive best-in-class low-power, compact, and economical products which in turn drive increasing market share. This position is directly related to the strategic technical and organizational stewardship of this IP’s roadmap and continual development in response to long-term market trends.
This senior role features extensive senior management exposure, and is a leading voice in identifying, analyzing, and advocating for specific ASIC concepts and features envisioned to increase Memory share and gross profit margin. This position will collaborate with semiconductor technologists to explore and propose mixed-signal concepts in response to strategic direction from Teradyne’s world-class Memory Marketing group.
This multi-disciplinary role requires proven and demonstratable skills including strategic technical leadership, organizational championship and influence, dynamic team management, and quantitative business analysis. Clear quantitative analysis and crisp communication of the market value of complex technical topics will be a crucial skill. Knowledge of and willingness to rapidly learn about mixed-signal transistor-level design techniques applicable to high-speed phys and pin electronics (PE) is required.

Education: BS in Electrical Engineering, PhD Electrical Engineering, MBA preferred

Work Experiences: 15+ years in IC design, applications, marketing, and semiconductor product definition

Proven track record of successful semiconductor product definitions

Demonstratable experience & successes responding to long-term Market needs with transistor-level innovation and quantified business analysis to inform strategic investment decisions
Ideally, you have experience in the following areas:

Architectural experience with high-speed phys, including optimal process selection, leading feasibility studies, and making technical and product-level tradeoffs throughout the IC design process

Technical and Marketing exposure to the ATE market, ideally including experience with ATE pin electronics, timing generators, and pattern generators

Experience with high-speed (>20Gbps) multi-protocol Serdes implementations in FPGAs and/or SoCs

Familiarity with IC design and tool flow

Working knowledge of spice and/or the Cadence IC design toolset
