Opportunity Overview

Teradyne is looking for a front-end Software Engineering manager with cross-functional management skills to drive the user experience design strategy and responsible for building high-quality, performant, and accessible user interfaces across our web and desktop platforms. You will work closely with product managers, and other engineering leads to deliver delightful and seamless user experiences that align with our product vision and business goals. You will establish the culture, standards, processes, and best practices for design at Teradyne. 

  • Spearhead and mentor a team of design engineers to ensure adoption and evolution of design system and frontend developers focused on GUI implementation across web/desktop products. 

  • Collaborate with product managers to translate design concepts into reliable, scalable, and accessible UIs. 

  • Ensure designers and researchers are working on high-impact projects that align with business goals and providing coaching / mentorship to reach those goals.  

  • Communicate UX strategy and design achievements to stakeholders.  

  • Ensure high-quality designs are delivered and tested against UX metrics for usability, usefulness, and desirability.  

  • Define and enforce engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, accessibility (WCAG), and maintainable component design. 

  • Oversee sprint planning, delivery timelines, and cross-functional dependencies. 

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and thoughtful feedback within the team. 

  • Monitor performance of UI components in production and guide efforts to improve quality, performance, and usability. 

  • Proactively manage, mitigate technical risks and execute effectively 

  • Cultivating a culture that instills product mindset, prioritizes candor, accountability, and collaboration 

  • Foster the career development of the team. Mentor your team, helping them grow and develop their technical/functional skills 

  • Hiring and growing new talent to meet the needs of the business while making staffing trade-offs as required 

  • Manage team elements in multiple geographic locations

  • 5+ years of direct management, project and technical leadership, and/or team leadership experience 

  • 5+ years of frontend or full-stack engineering experience with a focus on UI/UX. 

  • Experience with modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js, or Angular). 

  • Experience working with design systems, Figma, and component libraries. 

  • Strong understanding of UX fundamentals and experience building design system. 

  • Proficient in user-centered design methodologies and design thinking process. 

  • Strong organizational and project management skills especially ability to work cross-functionally 

  • Ability to spearhead and motivate others, communicating vision, setting goals and objectives, monitoring metrics and progress, and empowering the team to be successful. 

  • Ability to set clear direction and priorities, organize activities, and supervise the team to hit project objectives. 

  • Strong communication skills, ability to communicate at different levels of abstraction, and provide periodic updates to senior management and leadership. 

  • Demonstrable ability to read, evaluate and interpret technical documents 

  • Creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving engineering problems 

  • Experience with Agile software development process is a plus. 

  • Full product life cycle experience from concept to customer support is a plus 

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university required. Preferred Bachelor’s degree in HCI, a related design discipline, OR equivalent experience 

  • 10 years of experience in UX, with management experience 

  • Background working in a complex design space (e.g., products for test engineers) preferable. 

 

We are only considering candidates local to position location and are unable to provide relocation for this position.  

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.  

 

 

Compensation:
The base salary range for this role is $160,000 - $256,000. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.
