Opportunity Overview

Teradyne’s Silicon Photonics team is seeking a highly motivated, hands-on Systems Engineer to own the end-to-end integration, bring-up, and acceptance of Silicon Photonics test systems from factory readiness through installation and qualification at customer sites worldwide.

In this role, you will serve as the technical owner for complex, multi-domain systems that integrate optical, electrical, mechanical, thermal, and software subsystems onto UltraFLEXplus platforms. You will lead factory and site acceptance activities, support first-article and first-install bring-up, and partner closely with engineering, field, production, and customer teams to improve system performance, serviceability, and time-to-first-good-wafer.

  • Lead first-article and new-configuration bring-up of Silicon Photonics test cells, including tester, optical engine, probe/handler interface, DUT interface board, instrumentation, and software stack.
  • Develop and execute bring-up plans, power-on sequences, subsystem checkout procedures, and system-level characterization against specification.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective action for integration issues across optics, RF/DC electronics, firmware, motion, thermal, mechanical, and test software domains.
  • Author, review, and maintain FAT/SAT qualification protocols, acceptance criteria, test matrices, data packages, and customer sign-off documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, field service, field applications, suppliers, and customers to manage punch lists, deviations, waivers, acceptance status, and schedule risks.
  • Support installation, re-qualification, escalation, training, upgrade, retrofit, and ECO/field-change-order activities for installed Silicon Photonics systems.
  • Represent the voice of the field and factory floor in design reviews, FMEAs, readiness reviews, and design-for-service/design-for-bring-up improvement efforts.
  • Build strong technical relationships with worldwide account teams, field organizations, and key customers.

  • Experience supporting FAT/SAT protocols, customer acceptance activities, and technical documentation.
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals with exposure to Silicon Photonics, optical alignment/coupling, fiber handling, RF technology, high-speed signaling, power delivery, or signal processing.
  • Ability to troubleshoot across optics, electronics, mechanics, thermal, motion, and software disciplines using standard lab instrumentation.
  • Programming experience for test automation, data analysis, or diagnostics; .NET, C#, VB, and/or Python preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and customer-facing skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
