ABOUT TERADYNE
Teradyne is a global leader in automated test equipment and industrial automation, enabling customers across the semiconductor, electronics, and advanced manufacturing ecosystem to accelerate innovation and deliver high-quality products at scale. Across semiconductor test, wafer-level and system-level test, photonics, and adjacent semiconductor capital equipment, Teradyne operates at the intersection of deep engineering, long investment cycles, and complex global supply chains. Technology leadership and disciplined organic and inorganic strategy are central to Teradyne’s long-term value creation.
OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW
Teradyne is seeking a key leader to provide clear enterprise-level technology leadership in support of organic strategy, M&A, and investment decisions for the Semi and Product Test businesses. This role establishes the enterprise technology point of view that informs where Teradyne builds, buys, partners, invests, or licenses, and ensures technology strategy is translated into decision-ready input across corporate development and business unit execution. The role involves regular engagement with the business units, customers, partners, and prospective targets, and requires periodic domestic and international travel, primarily in Asia. The function is increasingly onsite, and this role is expected to work from the office approximately four days per week.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Enterprise Strategy Leadership (Organic and Inorganic)
- Build and maintain the Enterprise Technology Strategy Map (ETSM) defining technology direction across major discontinuities. Identify and prioritize technology discontinuities and associated competitive implications, and recommend build, buy, partner, invest, or license positions.
- Manage the development and rollout of a cohesive quarterly enterprise strategy document, integrating finance, investor, corporate, and business unit priorities into a single, decision-ready view for executive leadership. Take a lead role in confirming and socializing corporate strategy with the business units and other stakeholders.
- Lead the development of an end-to-end M&A and investment strategy for select focus areas that require deep technical acumen (e.g., Silicon Photonics). The effort spans business need identification, investment thesis, target selection, and cultivation, with handoff to deal leads for execution. Update the strategy as the execution unfolds and the environment changes.
- M&A Execution Support
- Lead use-case creation and proof-of-concept efforts with M&A targets to validate technical fit and strategic value. Establish the connection between specific diligence items and the implications for product or business integration.
- Establish and roll out technical diligence and related integration standards for inorganic activities.
- Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) Support
- Guide the technical diligence on new investments, identifying ways to confirm and enhance the strategic value of a startup. Specifically, participate in and help lead the CVC Technology Advisory Board, ensuring strategic alignment and rapid decision making for venture investing opportunities.
REQUIRED BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATIONS
- 15+ years of experience in senior technical leadership roles within semiconductor, semiconductor capital equipment, or similarly complex technology-driven businesses.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline, and a master’s degree (technical master’s or MBA).
- Demonstrated experience defining and driving enterprise-level technology strategy, including build, buy, and partner decisions.
- Hands-on experience supporting or leading technology-driven M&A, including technical diligence and target evaluation.
- Proven ability to operate as a senior individual contributor with enterprise-wide influence and regular engagement with executive leadership.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Formal management education.
- Direct experience in semiconductor test, wafer-level or system-level test, photonics, or adjacent semiconductor capital equipment.
- Experience with corporate venture capital or minority technology investments.
- Experience serving on a technology advisory board or investment committee.
EQUAL OPPORTUNITY
