Opportunity Overview
Vice President of Common Engineering
The Common Engineering Leader will serve as a core member of the SemiTest Group (STG) leadership team, accountable for all centralized or "common engineering" functions supporting STG’s portfolio. This executive will lead multidisciplinary engineering teams—including ASIC design, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, eCAD, safety & compliance, reliability, and sustaining hardware engineering, driving both strategic direction and operational excellence across the product lifecycle.
This leader will play a key role in shaping the engineering vision, scaling capabilities, and enabling innovation across STG, ensuring engineering functions are aligned to business priorities, customer needs, and long-term growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and mentor high-performing engineering teams across core disciplines: ASICs, mechanical, electrical, reliability, safety & compliance, and sustaining engineering.
- Build and scale engineering capabilities through talent development, inclusive leadership, and a culture of innovation and accountability.
- Lead the end-to-end design and development of ASICs, ensuring alignment to performance, power, and cost targets.
- Oversee mechanical and electrical design of automated test equipment and systems, ensuring precision, robustness, and product integrity.
- Drive compliance with industry standards and implement best practices in product safety, reliability, and regulatory frameworks.
- Support ongoing hardware lifecycle through robust sustaining engineering and field issue resolution.
- Ensure on-time, high-quality engineering delivery across a portfolio of programs; establish engineering processes that enable predictability, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.
- Guide prioritization and resourcing of engineering initiatives in alignment with product roadmaps and business strategy.
- Partner closely with each Business Unit, operations, manufacturing, and quality teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet customer and market demands.
- Represent engineering in key business reviews, leadership forums, and strategic planning sessions.
- Act as a primary technical interface for internal stakeholders and external customers, translating needs into actionable engineering outcomes.
- Drive innovation in engineering tools, technologies, and methodologies that support product differentiation and platform scalability.
- Champion continuous improvement across development cycles, design reviews, compliance processes, and engineering workflows.

Qualifications
- 15+ years of engineering leadership experience in capital equipment, including executive-level accountability.
- Proven track record of managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and delivering innovative, high-quality products to market.
- Strong technical background in at least two of the core areas (ASIC, mechanical, or electrical design) with working knowledge across others.
- Demonstrated experience managing engineering execution, technical risk, and cross-functional coordination in a matrixed organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required; Master’s or PhD preferred.
- Travel is expected to be less than 25% away from the primary location of North Reading

This is an onsite role in North Reading, MA.
