Opportunity Overview 

The Software Engineering team in North Reading, MA is looking for an experienced Software Engineer with web UI / frontend experience to join our team.  This role will play a key part in building our design system as well as contributing to the development of other critical web-based products. . The ideal candidate has a passion for learning, developing high quality software, and solving complex problems. The ideal candidate can balance various tasks related to requirements definition and analysis, development, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance. The candidate must be able to interact and collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout all stages of development. This role has some hybrid flexibility however the candidate must be able to work on-site at the North Reading office.

 

Responsibilities

Working on multiple web products for Teradyne’s family of Automatic Test Equipment software, you will:

  • Collaborate closely with the UX team and other UI developers to create and maintain a scalable and reusable component library using modern web front-end technologies (e.g., React).
  • Document Design System guidelines, best practices, and usage instructions for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ensure consistency and quality across all UI components and design patterns.
  • Integrate the Design System into existing and new web products
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in web development and Design Systems.
  • Implement tooling and processes to increase UI development productivity using tools such as Storybook and GitHub.
  • Propose performant, reliable, scalable, and learnable web application UI framework(s) for use by product teams.
  • Implement features across a range of web-based products, contributing to architectural decisions, tooling choices, and development standards.Conduct workshops or training sessions to educate product teams on using the Design System effectively.

 

All About You 

  • 5+ years of experience developing modern web application UIs
  • Experience collaborating with UX designers
  • Experience developing with Visual Studio, Git, JIRA or similar tools
  • Experience with development lifecycles including Agile
  • Able to clearly express your ideas and concepts both written and verbally
  • Experience in building and maintaining Design Systems or component libraries
  • Experience in using Electron for desktop applications.
  • Experience selecting and implementing libraries for common frontend tasks such as API data fetching, state management, routing, and authentication.
  • Familiarity with multiple web UI frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, and Vue.js) and ability to recommend ideal framework for current and future software development.
  • Experience with modern unit and integration testing frameworks.
  • Knowledge of tools and strategies for monitoring application performance, debugging, and ensuring observability, with an emphasis on security best practices.
  • Experience collaborating in UX design tools such as Figma
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices
  • Familiarity with Windows desktop UI frameworks (e.g., XAML) and C# is a plus
  • Experience working in the semiconductor test industry is a plus
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering or related field OR equivalent experience.
