Organization & Role

Nextest is looking for software engineers to join an exciting, dynamic, hardworking, engaging, and collaborative team. As an individual contributor, you will be involved in all aspects of software engineering and complex problem-solving, working with cross-functional teams to define, implement, and test new features and functionality.

 

Nextest engineering teams bring deep technical expertise across both software and hardware. Our engineers thrive in a dynamic, customer-driven, global work environment where they succeed through innovation and collaboration. Internally, we work closely with Systems Engineering, Hardware Engineering, and QA. Externally, we partner with Field Support and customers to deliver impactful solutions.

 

Opportunity Overview

In this role, you will:

  • Understand customer requirements and find innovative ways to incorporate them into our existing software architecture.
  • Learn from our most senior engineers while bringing your own experience and perspective to help drive the next generation of Teradyne solutions.
  • Collaborate with our senior team to design and develop programs and libraries for new products.
  • Assist with sustaining and extending programs and libraries for existing products.
  • Engage with our Field Applications team to find innovative ways to improve customer success and solve customer problems.
  • Work with the Software QA group to develop effective test strategies, identify improvement areas, and resolve issues in internal and customer-facing software releases.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Expert-level proficiency in C++ and/or C# with strong object-oriented design and programming skills.
  • Strong experience developing software that interfaces directly with hardware, including FPGA-, ASIC-, or instrument-based systems.
  • Solid hands-on experience with .NET application development.
  • Strong understanding of software quality practices, including unit testing, automated testing, and continuous integration methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Windows application development and debugging using Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • Strong knowledge of the C++ Standard Template Library (STL) and modern C++ development practices.
  • Experience with source code management and collaborative development tools, including Git/GitLab, code review processes, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience using Jira or similar Agile project management tools for requirement tracking, sprint planning, and issue management.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical initiatives or mentoring engineering teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience collaborating with hardware engineering teams, including interpreting schematics, hardware specifications, and design documentation.
  • Experience developing Windows device drivers, particularly using the Kernel-Mode Driver Framework (KMDF).
  • Strong understanding of Windows operating system internals and low-level system programming.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering commercial products to customers.
  • Experience with instrument control, measurement systems, or test equipment software development.
  • Experience in Automated Test Equipment (ATE) systems, preferably in semiconductor memory testing.
  • Experience developing Windows-based GUI applications using WPF, MFC, or similar frameworks.

 

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Multi-threaded and high-performance software development.
  • Software architecture and system-level design experience.
  • Experience with distributed systems, data analytics, or test data processing.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor test methodologies, memory devices (DRAM, NAND Flash, HBM), and associated test flows is highly desirable.
