Opportunity Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Test Engineer to support our contract manufacturing partners in Penang Island. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in testing, validation, debugging, yield improvement, and resolving design issues to ensure high-quality products and continuous process optimisation. This role requires onsite support at manufacturing locations, working closely with both internal teams and external suppliers to drive improvements in test performance and product reliability.
- Develop and maintain test procedures, initiate ECO/ ECN (Engineering Change Orders/ Notices) or deviations for design changes.
- Perform functional, parametric, and reliability testing on digital components using automated and manual test equipment.
- Support failure analysis and root cause investigations for test failures to proactively address potential risks.
- Collaborate with design, process, quality, supply line, and hardware engineering teams to resolve product and test-related issues.
- Document test results, generate reports, conclude and present findings to engineering and management teams.
- Assist in new product introduction (NPI) transfer, component qualification, and software validation processes at manufacturing sites.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance test yield, test efficiency, accuracy and coverage.
- Support contract manufacturing debugging methodologies and troubleshooting techniques. Develop/ co-develop and document cookbook for defects troubleshooting.
- Provide technical support and participate in PIP (Prefect Installation Program) and field failures.
- Capable to apply TQM and TQC tools as well as pFMEA/ pFMECA tool for product first passed yield improvements.
- Devise product performance improvement plans through 8-step of systematic problem-solving methodology and drive the contract manufacturers and suppliers to closure to yield results.
- Devise a plan to satisfy and meet the given key performance indicators (KPIs), as well as recovery plan should the data indicating a gap against the target.
- Work with the contract manufacturer partner to drive operation improvements and cost reduction program through LEAN & 6-sigma projects.

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and 10+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
- Strong expertise in test failure analysis, hardware debugging, and root cause identification.
- Excellent in digital electronics, test methodologies, and fault isolation.
- Experience with ATE platforms, board-level test systems, FCT system level test environments.
- Experience with debugging tools oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other test equipment.
- Good analytical and strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis tools (e.g. JMP, minitab), and yield improvement methodologies is a plus.
- Software programming experience and knowledge of Teradyne SOC system is a plus.
- Great communication skills in English, both written and oral, are required.
- Eagerness to learn new things, strong self-discipline, and motivation skills.
- Ability to work independently, in a team-oriented environment, and have leadership skills.
