Job Summary
Manage Korea import and export operations in compliance with Korea Customs Service requirements, including UNI-PASS declarations, HS classification, customs valuation, duty/VAT, FTA/origin documentation, export controls, and shipment documentation accuracy. Ensure timely clearance, audit-ready records, and effective coordination with customs brokers, freight forwarders, internal teams, and government-related parties.
Key Responsibilities
Import & Export Operations
- Manage inbound and outbound Korea shipments across air, ocean, courier, and domestic delivery channels from booking through customs clearance and delivery closure.
- Work with customs brokers, freight forwarders, warehouse teams, Admin, Finance, and internal stakeholders to support smooth shipment execution.
- Coordinate import shipment disposition, including domestic/internal delivery or storage room stock placement, as required.
- Track shipment milestones, resolve clearance issues, and escalate risks that may affect customer commitments, cost, compliance, or delivery timelines.
Customs Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure shipment documents and customs data are accurate, complete, and aligned with Korea import and export requirements.
- Coordinate with customs brokers on compliant customs declarations, including classification, valuation, origin, duty/VAT, permits, and licenses.
- Maintain audit-ready records and support customs inquiries, post-clearance corrections, origin verification, and internal compliance reviews.
- Promote process discipline and preventive controls to reduce shipment delays, rework, penalties, and operational risk.
Regulatory Screening & Risk Management
- Support screening for restricted goods, export control requirements, license or permit needs, and end-use or end-user concerns.
- Escalate shipments requiring regulatory review, management approval, or customer clarification before release.
- Embed compliance checkpoints into order release, broker instructions, shipment booking, exception management, and SOP updates.
Process Management
- Manage day-to-day performance of customs brokers, freight forwarders, and logistics partners, including service quality, clearance cycle time, filing accuracy, and issue resolution.
- Identify opportunities to improve shipment visibility, cost control, compliance performance, and overall logistics service delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Supply Chain, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of experience in import/export operations, logistics compliance or international supply chain operations
- Strong understanding of Korea customs processes, shipment documentation, broker coordination, duty/VAT, origin/FTA, and import/export compliance requirements
- Proficient in Excel, ERP systems, shipment tracking tools, customs broker reports, and master-data review; Korean language or Korea broker experience preferred.
- Experience working in a global manufacturing or distribution environment
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Convey information clearly and effectively both written and verbal in English.
- Must demonstrate strong aptitude for customer service
