Opportunity Overview

 

The Semiconductor Test Engineering team is seeking a highly motivated and technically driven Software Engineering Intern to support the development of Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) software and assist with system integration and debugging activities across various instruments. This work takes place in a dynamic, challenging multi‑site development environment.

The ideal candidate is passionate about working at the hardware–software boundary and enjoys collaborating with subject‑matter experts to bring complex systems together.

 

Responsibilities

  • Implement and verify HAL (Hardware Extraction Layer) software for automated test equipment.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams on HAL SW development for instruments.
  • Support system integration and debugging tasks.
  • Explore and apply AI techniques to improve HAL software development.

Qualifications / Skills

  • Programming: Proficiency in C and C++; experience with at least one scripting language (Python, TCL, PERL) is plus.
  • Operating Systems: Windows and Linux.
  • Tools: Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio, Git, ClearCase/Version Vault, JIRA, and related development tools.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence, efficiency, and product quality.

 

Education / Experience

  • Currently pursuing a BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field at a recognized university or engineering institution.
  • Prior C/C++ software development experience is a plus.

 

 

We are only considering candidates local to position location and are unable to provide relocation for this position.

 

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

 

 

Compensation:
The base hourly range for this role is $25.50-$47.00. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.
