We are hiring a Senior Field Applications Engineer - Photonic IC ATE to support customers with their test and measurement challenges and grow our business in North America.
Quantifi Photonics develops and manufactures a wide range of optical and electrical test instruments designed to solve test and measurement challenges at the leading edge of innovation. We are also determined to address a significant pain point in the industry by offering a cost-effective and scalable sampling oscilloscope platform to enable the high-volume testing of High-Speed I/O interfaces. To help us achieve this important mission, we require a highly technical and skilled Senior Field Applications Engineer to resolve these complex test and measurement challenges in close cooperation with our customers.
Your main responsibilities will be to work with customers and support the development and optimization of their Photonic IC ATE test setups, advise on technical solutions, perform product demonstrations and support technical on-site evaluations. You will also be required to establish and maintain contact with target customers and promote the company’s products and solutions at trade shows and conferences. In this role you will work with customers as peers in the industry, and act as a consultant to help solve their test and measurement challenges related to R&D, validation/characterization and high-volume manufacturing test.
You will be working very closely with the Regional Sales Manager and Business Development Manager to maximize our footprint in the region, and you will be measured on achieving and exceeding sales targets and excellence in customer support to achieve their business objectives.
Ideally, applicants will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area and will be comfortable working remotely. Regular travel to customer sites across the country is required. Other North American locations will also be considered.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Support key accounts in North America focused on optical communication such as Photonic IC developers, optical transceiver companies, foundries, test houses, OSATs, and equipment developers.
- In-depth technical support for key accounts that are developing, and optimizing complex test setups for Photonic IC ATE as part of validation, pre-production and high-volume manufacturing.
- Cooperate closely with the Regional Sales Manager and Business Development Manager to maximize potential business opportunities and achieve/exceed the sales targets.
- Interpret customer requirements, identify optimal solutions to meet those needs, and provide consultative services to support customer challenges.
- Automation support including test flow optimization, debugging and providing examples.
- Create technical proposals with detailed test configurations, clearly articulating its value proposition.
- Build complex test setups and execute experiments to generate data and test results as proof points for customers.
- Provide first and second level technical support to customers.
- Perform product demonstration and support on-site technical evaluations.
- Provide excellent customer service and support.
- Promote existing and new products to customers in person, at trade shows and online sales presentations.
- Maintain positive long-term relationships with key customers.

- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Physics (Photonics) or Electrical Engineering.
- At least 10 years of experience in a technical support and/or development role for ATE and Photonics Test.
- Broad experience with optical test throughout the product life cycle: R&D, DVT, and HVM.
- Experience with Photonics & HSIO test and measurement equipment and solutions.
- Sampling oscilloscopes, BERTs, tunable lasers, optical spectrum analyzers, etc.
- Wavelength and polarization dependent measurements, RIN, LIV-curves
- Software automation expertise with API, SCPI, gRPC, PXIe, and experience with common programming languages such as Python, C++.
- Deep expertise in optimizing test flows, test time and throughput.
- Knowledge of the optical communication ecosystem in North America.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills in Photonics & HSIO test field of expertise.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to build strong customer relationships and communicate with clarity and technical acumen.
- A desire to become a trusted advisor to customers and interfacing regularly with key technical contacts.
- Comfortable working autonomously while setting and achieving ambitious goals.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Fluent in English, written and spoken.
- Proven team player.
- Approximately 20-25% travel depending on customer needs.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this role is $156,300-$250,000. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.
Incentive Plan: This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
