Our Purpose

TERADYNE, where experience meets innovation and driving excellence in every connection. We are fueled by creativity and diversity of thought and in our workforce. Our employees are supported to innovate and learn something new every day. We cultivate a culture of inclusion for all employees that respects their individual strengths, views, and experiences. We believe that our differences enable us to be a better team – one that makes better decisions, drives innovation and delivers better business results.

Universal Robots, part of Teradyne Robotics, is the world market leader in collaborative robots (cobots), making products that empower our customers and positively transform the way they work. Teradyne Robotics is a division of Teradyne and includes Universal Robots and Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR). Our global R&D organization of 200+ engineers builds the software and systems behind every cobot we ship.

Opportunity Overview

You will work alongside a team of talented and passionate engineers developing, testing, and optimizing the software and systems that let us simulate our robot platforms and the environments they work in.

As a 3D / PCG Artist supporting the Simulation team through a third-party partner, you will create the simulation-ready assets and procedural environments in which UR cobots and MiR mobile robots are tested and trained. Every asset must look real, be built to real-world scale, and behave correctly in physics simulation, because the quality of our virtual factories, warehouses, and labs directly shapes the quality of the synthetic data and validation results built on them.

This is a hands-on creative and technical role. You will use modelling, texturing, and procedural tools to build large, varied asset libraries and environments, and you will work closely with simulation engineers, dataset engineers, and QA in Bangalore to meet agreed specifications, quality benchmarks, and delivery timelines.

Your scope of work includes:

  • Create high-quality, real-world-scale 3D assets such as industrial parts, tools, bins, packaging, pallets, shelving, furniture, and factory and warehouse props.
  • Model clean, efficient topology with proper UVs and levels of detail suitable for real-time simulation.
  • Author physically based (PBR) materials and textures that render realistically under varied lighting.
  • Build procedural environments and asset variation systems for warehouses, factory floors, labs, and cluttered workspaces using PCG tools.
  • Prepare simulation-ready assets, including collision meshes, correct pivots and scale, mass and physics properties, and semantic labels.
  • Export and convert assets to required formats — OpenUSD preferred, plus FBX, glTF, and OBJ — following agreed naming and structure standards.
  • Recreate customer-like environments from references, photos, or CAD data.
  • Iterate on feedback from simulation, dataset, and QA teams and resolve review comments promptly.
  • Maintain organised asset libraries and documentation for every delivery.
  • Meet agreed delivery timelines and quality acceptance criteria.

All About You

We seek individuals who share our passion and determination. Our commitment to customer success drives us to go the extra mile. If you're ready to join us in this mission, take a closer look at the minimum criteria for the engagement.

We value diversity in culture, competence, and experience. We expect you to bring a number of skills to be considered for this engagement.

Mandatory Skills:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in 3D modelling for games, VFX, product visualisation, or simulation.
  • Proficiency in Blender, Maya, or 3ds Max.
  • Hands-on experience with procedural tools such as Houdini, Unreal Engine PCG, or Blender Geometry Nodes.
  • Strong PBR texturing skills using Substance Painter/Designer or equivalent tools.
  • Solid understanding of real-world scale, hard-surface modelling, and asset optimisation (polycount, LODs).
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating realistic hard-surface and environment work (required with application).
  • Ability to follow detailed technical specifications and naming conventions.

Proficiency required in at least three of the following skills:

  • OpenUSD and NVIDIA Omniverse or Isaac Sim.
  • Creating assets for robotics, digital twins, or industrial visualisation.
  • Creating collision meshes and setting up physics properties.
  • Photogrammetry or 3D scanning workflows.
  • Python scripting to automate work in DCC tools.
  • Unreal Engine or Unity environment building.
  • Working with CAD data and CAD-to-mesh conversion.
  • Lighting and look development for realistic scenes.

Personal Attributes

Candidates should demonstrate strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and adaptability. Reliability, ownership of deliverables, and clear communication with engineering teams are vital. A pragmatic approach, openness to feedback, commitment to continuous learning, and dedication to work quality are expected.

What We Offer

Through this engagement, you will contribute to cutting-edge robotics simulation at Universal Robots, working alongside skilled and talented engineers from around the world.

  • Meaningful work — Build the virtual worlds used to test and train robots deployed on real customer floors.
  • Technical growth — Work with OpenUSD, Omniverse, and procedural pipelines at the forefront of simulation and physical AI.
  • Clear collaboration — Regular reviews and direct feedback from the Bangalore simulation and dataset teams.
  • On-site or remote collaboration with the Bangalore team, with overlap during Bangalore working hours.

This is a third-party / contract engagement through a Teradyne partner and is not a direct employment position with Teradyne. Engagement terms, including IP and confidentiality agreements, are set by the partner agreement.
