Opportunity Overview

Do you thrive on automating infrastructure, orchestrating container platforms, and building the pipelines that turn code into reliable products? Are you excited by the prospect of working with a global engineering team at the forefront of collaborative robotics? Then you might be our next Senior DevOps Engineer.

We are looking for a seasoned DevOps professional to join our global DevOps team from our Bangalore development office. You will work on-site alongside co-located software and product teams while being part of a DevOps organization managed from Universal Robots headquarters in Odense, Denmark. This means close daily collaboration with local developers and regular interaction with colleagues across European time zones.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Kubernetes and Container Operations

  • Upgrade and deploy Docker-based services within Kubernetes clusters, including managing staging namespaces for validation before production rollout.
  • Maintain and evolve service configurations, ensuring high availability, security, and efficient resource utilisation.

 

CI/CD Pipeline Engineering

  • Design, create, and maintain Jenkins build pipelines for multiple software products.
  • Debug and resolve pipeline failures, working across Groovy, Bash, Python, and Docker tooling.
  • Continuously improve build and release automation to shorten feedback loops and increase delivery confidence.

 

DevOps Service Testing and Quality

  • Partner with development teams to define and implement unit and integration tests that validate DevOps services, catching regressions early and ensuring change safety.
  • Drive adoption of testing best practices across the DevOps toolchain.
  • Develop tooling to simplify and improve the software development process at Universal Robots.

 

Test Automation

  • Support and expand the broader test-automation framework in collaboration with QA and development teams.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive verification steps across build, deployment, and infrastructure workflows.

 

Network and Infrastructure Support

  • Support and maintain network infrastructure relevant to development and test environments (DNS, connectivity, VPN, load balancers).
  • Collaborate with IT and infrastructure teams to ensure reliable and secure connectivity between local and global environments.

 

Collaboration and Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate across time zones with the DevOps team in Denmark and other global stakeholders.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise build and release systems to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Work to improve security and compliance in the software delivery lifecycle.
  • Contribute to an engaging, motivating, and dynamic work atmosphere.

 

All About You

We expect you to bring solid hands-on experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or a related infrastructure-focused role. A growth mindset, collaborative nature, and comfort working in a global distributed team are essential.

 

Required

  • Experience: We want you to have 5 experience years in DevOps, SRE, or related roles
  • Kubernetes & Docker: Strong working knowledge of container orchestration, service deployment, and cluster management.
  • CI/CD: Proven experience building and maintaining Jenkins pipelines; familiarity with other CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions, Forgejo, GitLab CI) is a plus.
  • Scripting & Programming: Proficiency in Bash and Python; working knowledge of Groovy; exposure to one or more of C++, Go, Clojure, Java or TypeScript is beneficial.
  • Linux: Comfortable administering and troubleshooting Linux-based systems.
  • Source Control: Proficient with Git workflows (branching, merging, pull requests); experience with Bitbucket is a plus.
  • Monitoring & Observability: Hands-on experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic stack, or equivalent.
  • Networking Fundamentals: Understanding of DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing, and VPN in a development/test context.
  • Agile / Lean: Experience working in agile or lean development teams.
  • Communication: Strong written and spoken English; ability to communicate effectively across cultures and time zones.

 

Nice to Have

  • Deeper networking or systems-administration background (routing, firewalls, network segmentation, ingress controllers).
  • Experience with release management activities such as versioning, tagging, and deployment coordination.
  • Familiarity with security scanning and compliance tooling in CI/CD.
  • Prior experience working with European or globally distributed engineering teams.

 

Educational Background

A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
