Segment Product Manager – Welding Segment

Universal Robots is revolutionizing the way humans work with robots. We have carved a whole new market in the world of robotics, the Collaborative Robots – aka Cobots – market and we need amazing people to help us nurture it.

In a world in which many believe humans are destined to be replaced by robots, we beg to differ: humans and robots can and should work together, for only then will they be able to reach peaks that neither a human nor a robot alone can aspire to. Universal Robots was born to bring that vision to life and today we are creators, leaders and drivers of a market destined to change the world of industrial automation. Do you want to write the next chapters of this world-changing story with us? Then read on…

We’re looking for an experienced Product Manager for our welding segment to execute on the company’s overarching vertical segment-focused strategy. On top of UR’s world-class Cobot products, new functionalities and features are developed specifically for welding applications, enabling seamless integration, and creating tailored solutions.

You, as the Welding Segment Product Manager, will discover the unique challenges our customers face in welding, will scope out and collaborate on solutions to these challenges, prioritize these and help introduce and launch amazing new creations to our welding customers. You are a strategist who enjoys spending time with customers, sales and application engineering. You think out of the box, dig deeper to understand the root of problem statements, and translate the company’s high-level vision into actions in the welding segment, taking us where no one has ever dared.    This candidate should live in the Novi, MI area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the holistic view and communicate the product strategy for the welding segment that delivers on the promise of UR cobots being the best cobot welding platform in the world
  • Work closely with the Welding Segment Business Leader and the Welding Center of Excellence to launch and promote products that grow our cobot sales and deliver new market-driven products and features
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, design, applications, marketing communications and our business partners
  • Uncover and understand customer needs and translate them into customer problem statements and smart requirements for our products, applications, and solutions
  • Conduct market assessment, voice of the customer interviews, manage the product database, as well as prepare sales, marketing, and training materials
  • Continuously monitor competitive offerings, maintain knowledge of competitive features and communicate this information regularly to engineering and product management
  • Develop and maintain a forward-looking, multi-year roadmap for our welding-specific product offerings to illustrate our product vision
  • Work closely with engineering and product management throughout the product development process; be a constant advocate for the customer, provide continuous guidance for product teams, and lead tradeoff negotiation and prioritization discussions

Who are we looking for?

We desire our future colleague in this role to come with 5+ years of product management experience, ideally in robotics or other industrial products. It’s key that you are tech savvy and passionate about building platform products that enable customer satisfaction, and that you have excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues, cross-functional teams and third parties. Experience working with Marketing Communications and launching products is highly valued. Furthermore, we are looking for someone who can meet the following requirements:
