Responsibilities

Within the Supply Base Management engineering team, this position as the commodity engineer is the key technical resource for all proactive supplier related activities. You will be responsible for the technical due diligence aspects of mechanical and/or electro-mechanical components selection and creating awareness within strategic supply base of Teradyne technology needs while keeping current knowledge of industry and component technology trends. Moreover, your responsibilities will be, but not limited to:

 

  • Gather and review info on the specifications of standard and divisional mechanical components and assist the global design teams in selecting mechanical commodities for use in new designs
  • Facilitate specification reviews with our suppliers and gather DFM input and transform them into valuable specifications.
  • Be responsible for supporting requests for information from contract manufacturers on Teradyne parts, components, and suppliers
  • Lead qualification of new components through Part Qual process and First Article documents
  • Analyze how changes could affect Teradyne products, when component was changed by Manufacturer; in charge to deviate process to get new parts when urgencies are demanded
  • Drive cost down initiatives using experience to analyze and find optimization in the cost of the mechanical parts, while assuring continuous quality and reliability
  • Travel as needed to work on engineering projects and visit suppliers

It’s crucial for success in this role that you are highly skilled in manufacturing processes of gears, motors, and electrical systems – and are the one people envies for your knowledge!

5+ years of experience with precision motion control; gears, motors, and electrical systems combined with an education in Mechanical or Electro-mechanical Engineering would make us very curious about you.

 

Also we are looking for:

  • Reading and interpretating mechanical technical data: drawings, specifications, high level assemblies, bill of materials, etc.
  • Familiarity with electromechanical integration and design/assembly best practices
  • Supplier quality management experience
  • Knowledge of assisted mechanical software such as Solid Works and AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of Statistical Quality Controls (SPC, 6-sigma, etc) & Lean Manufacturing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite: Macros and Pivot Tables in Excel is a must
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, and fluent in English both verbal and written

 

The role requires flexibility in terms of planning and travelling. Willingness to adjust working hours to meet deadlines and to visit suppliers around the world. You have the ability to work independently, self-motivated with minimal supervision to perform individual tasks and responsibilities.

 

The role is based in Odense, DK.
