Teradyne Robotics is looking for a Commodity Manager who brings a strong technical foundation and is ready to leverage that expertise in a strategic supply chain role. This position is ideal for an experienced Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Product Engineer looking to transition into procurement, sourcing, and supplier management while remaining close to technology and product development.
In this role, you'll work at the intersection of Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain, helping shape sourcing strategies for innovative robotics products from concept through production.
Key responsibilities
As our new NPI Commodity Manager, you will become a trusted partner to Engineering teams, using your technical knowledge to make informed sourcing decisions and build a robust supply base.
You will

Participate in make-versus-buy decisions for new products.

Evaluate supplier capabilities, manufacturing technologies, and technical risks.

Identify and develop suppliers that can support future product roadmaps.

Partner with Engineering teams to influence supplier and technology selection early in the design process.

Lead supplier selection, qualification, and commercial negotiations.

DeveTeradyne lop cost models and support cost reduction initiatives throughout the product lifecycle.

Build strategic supplier relationships that drive innovation, quality, and responsiveness.

Manage supply risks, supplier performance, and business continuity.

Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Program Management, and Manufacturing teams to ensure successful product launches.

Be expected to travel 10-15% a year.

Qualifications
Required
-
Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Production, or similar).

Several years of experience in product development, manufacturing, NPI, supplier quality, industrialization, or related technical roles.

Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and fabrication technologies.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Interest in developing expertise within sourcing, procurement, and supplier management.
Preferred
-
Experience working directly with suppliers.

Exposure to cost analysis, manufacturing sourcing decisions, or supplier development.

Knowledge of ERP systems and strong Excel skills.

Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.

MBA, APICS, ISM, or other supply chain certifications are a plus.
