Opportunity Overview
The Field Application Engineer (FAE) is a technical specialist responsible for supporting pre-sales activities, application development, and technical validation of automation solutions for the Teradyne Robotics portfolio, including Universal Robots collaborative robots and Mobile Industrial Robots autonomous mobile robots.

This role works closely with sales teams, distributors, integrators, and end users to identify automation opportunities, develop technical solutions, and ensure successful project implementation. The role also supports technical case management, warranty coordination, and service-related activities, acting as a bridge between customers, partners, and internal technical teams.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead technical discovery activities such as plant assessments and Line Walks to identify automation opportunities and new automation projects.
  • Develop robotic automation concepts and support technical solution design for UR cobots and MiR AMRs.
  • Collaborate with distributors, integrators, and sales teams to validate applications, support solution design, and ensure successful deployments.
  • Support partners and customers with technical troubleshooting, diagnostics, and resolution of application issues through case management systems and technical portals.
  • Partner with service and support teams to assist in warranty cases, maintenance strategies, and technical escalations when required.
  • Build strong technical relationships with customers and partners while supporting demonstrations, technical workshops, and proof-of-concepts during the sales cycle.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Robotics, related field OR experience in robotics or industrial automation.
  • English Proficiency.
  • 3+ years of experience in:
    • Robotics, industrial automation, application engineering, technical support, or system integration.
    • Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting robotic or automation applications.
    • Strong understanding of industrial automation systems, robotic integrations, and manufacturing processes.
    • Ability to support technical cases, service diagnostics, and warranty-related technical assessments.
    • Ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly to customers, partners, and internal teams.
  • Travel Requirement: This role requires extensive travel across LATAM (approximately 60–80% of the time) to support customer visits, plant assessments, partner enablement, technical workshops, and project deployments.

 

 

Preferred Job requirements:

  • Experience working with collaborative robots or autonomous mobile robots.
  • Experience supporting system integrators, distributors, or automation partners.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols, sensors, vision systems, or PLC integration.
  • Experience conducting technical workshops, demos, or automation training sessions.
