Organization & Role

 

The Teradyne Field Applications team is looking for a highly-motivated, energetic, driven Field Application Engineer who will work collaboratively with the team as well as independently to determine and develop imaginative, thorough, and practical application solutions.

Responsibilities

 

Field Applications Engineers in Solutions Engineering Group will have the opportunity to experience a range of activities, which vary week to week and sometimes day to day. These include:

  • Devise innovative techniques for testing and characterizing leading edge Digital and Mixed-Signal (VLSI and AVLSI) devices
  • Design sophisticated analog and digital test interfaces to implement switching, filtering, signal conversion, and other functions.
  • Write and debug test programs in C++/Visual Basic to solve customer's test problems for mixed-signal, logic, digital and memory applications.
  • Create and deliver demonstration programs and presentations.
  • Identify trends in customer IC development to help guide the development of new Teradyne ATE instrumentation.
  • Reproduce/evaluate customer issues for software/hardware engineering to correct and provide interim solutions to keep our customers' production flowing.
  • Develop competitive benchmarks to differentiate us from the competition.
  • Travel to customer locations to support Design Engineers, Test Engineers, Product Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers.  Travel requirements may be 25% or greater.
  • Work with Sales and Marketing to develop sales and support strategies.
  • Attend trade shows as a technical representative.
  • Write and present technical papers at internal/external Users Group conferences
  • Teach technical classes and seminars to customers and Teradyne engineers.
  • Project management to maintain and oversee the delivery of critical project milestones.

Basic Qualifications & Skills

 

  • Strong hardware design skills (AC-DC analysis, op amps, filters, DSP, DAC/ ADC, digital circuitry).
  • Strong software (C++ and/or Visual Basic) development skills.
  • Knowledge of digital and mixed-signal test techniques
  • Prefer knowledge of IG-XL and UltraFLEX
  • Test/product engineering experience in IC component testing with experience in developing sophisticated/robust ATE Mixed Signal solutions or equivalent (DESIRABLE).
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Team player and able to maintain professional decorum with peers and customers in a high energy and highly variable production/engineering environment.
  • Ability to travel outside of United States, including the Costa Rica, Mexico, Europe, and Asia. This includes the ability to qualify for entry Visas into foreign countries. Total travel requirements may be 25% or greater.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Education

Bachelor or higher degree in electronic/computer engineering or related fields
