The DC Systems Engineering position is a visible role responsible for working with marketing and other functional groups to define DC instrumentation products that best address our customers’ upcoming needs.  In this role you will be a member of an interdisciplinary systems engineering team responsible for the development of next-generation, high power-density instrumentation for future automated test equipment (ATE) systems. As a Systems Engineer, you will focus on defining DC instruments for Teradyne’s Semiconductor Test Division. DC instruments at Teradyne are generally very dense (>100 channels per instrument), and each optimizes the channel circuitry to meet the given end market needs.  Device Power Supplies (DPS) are usually low voltage, high current designs that typically optimize load transient response, voltage accuracy, and power efficiency.  VIs can be high voltage (>100V), range from low to high current (10A), and incorporate many possible enhancements depending on the market need (floating, precision measure and force, time measurement, ultra-low leakage, etc).

Responsibilities

Our ideal candidate will have a broad set of interests, experience, and skills.

 

You should have as many of the following as possible:

  • Understanding of state of the art technologies and practices for designing circuits, and modules for analog and power instruments.
  • Product definition experience for power supplies and low frequency (<100MHZ) measurement equipment, ideally at a semiconductor company
  • The aptitude to solicit key customer feedback on early technical concepts and synthesize it into a realizable detailed instrument concept.
  • Strong desire and concern to lead and motivate others, setting goals, communicating vision and direction, and creating a shared understanding
  • The capability to drive internal consensus to select one of several detailed concepts
  • The focus and attention-to-detail required to document concepts in sufficient detail such that other functional groups (circuit design, FPGA, and software) can efficiently implement projects.
  • Proven ability to use a blend of marketing, technical, and organizational expertise to significantly influence the strategy of the company.
  • Ability to react quickly and work with others to collaboratively solve problems
  • Ability to cope and thrive in a fast-paced environment where changes in requirements are commonplace

Basic Qualifications & Skills

  • 10 years engineering experience with at least 5 years leading product definition in a systems or technical leadership role
  • Experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus
  • Strong DC circuit design experience
  • Experience designing control systems a plus
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10-15% of the time (post COVID pandemic)

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
