Semiconductor Test Division

                           
In this role, you will be part of a cross-functional team that design and develop electro-mechanical instrument assemblies and system platforms used by the 
world’s largest electronics manufactures.
 

Reports to Mechanical/Thermal/Test Cell Engineering Leadership team that manages the platform, instrument and test cell development for the 
Semiconductor Test Division and is responsible for providing a high level of product design, mentoring to other Engineers and participation in process 
improvements, strategic planning and presentations.  This position works under a low level of supervision with a high level of independent work.

 

Essential Functions:


Candidates filling this position are expected to demonstrate advanced principles and concepts in the field of mechanical engineering, while contributing 
to the development of new principles and concepts, as required.  The candidate will be expected to work on complex problems and provide solutions which are 
innovative, under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals.  Successful candidates will demonstrate independence to pursue courses of 
action necessary to obtain desired results, utilizing consultation and reviews with peers and management staff as additional support to achieve the 
organization’s objectives and / or technical challenges. Some filling this role can act as organization spokesperson on specialized projects or programs, 
or act as an advisor to management and customers, partners, suppliers on advanced technical issues and applications.
 

Responsibilities

 

  •  Plans, schedules and coordinates detailed phases of a major project or system of moderate/large scope.
  •  May carry out complex or novel research assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures.
  •  Promotes and implements process improvements company-wide.
  •  Provides guidance to fellow junior engineers on conventional engineering practices as well as ability to guide through conflicting design 
     requirements,non-standard materials and difficult coordination requirements.
  •  Provides direct support of sales and development by sharing information in the form of major/complex proposals and design reviews.
  •  Sets technical direction on complex projects to level 1-3 Engineers.
  •  Responsible for taking verbal and written descriptions from marketing and systems engineering and creating the physical representation of the product in both solid model and 
     detail drawing form, if necessary.
  •  Ensures designs (materials and equipment) meet manufacturability, testability and reliability criteria.


 

Basic Qualifications & Skills

 

Greater than 12 years in related field required.  Prefer experience with Semiconductor testing applications.  Strong preference for 
optics related design experience.

 

  • Competent use of CAD tools (Solidworks/PDM) to document concepts.
  • Competent use of FEA tools for design iterations (Solidworks Simulation)
  • In depth knowledge of GD&T standards and applied experienced.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills including presentations, (Customer, internal and management).
  • Writes and communicates critical reports.  Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Leads complex design reviews, internally and Customer.  Expert technical writing skills (procedures, reports, etc.)
  • Competent complex problem solving/troubleshooting skills for both components and subsystems. 
  • Promotes a cross-functional project team environment, communicates with customer facing teams and leads small teams.
  • May participate in setting technical direction/product strategies, working with the Systems Engineering team. Provides technical problems-solving guidance to others.

 

Working knowledge of SEMI standards and the ability to apply complex groupings of standards into designs. 

Education


•    BS degree in Mechanical Engineering required.  Post-graduate technical degree strongly desired.
