We are currently looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team at our North Reading, MA facility, this person will be an individual contributor to a multi-site, multifunctional engineering design and product development team, and expected primarily work on-site. 
 
The ideal candidate will have experience with mechanical design, systems engineering, and electro-mechanical packaging for semi test.

Responsibilities

 

 

•    Conceptualize, select, and defend design solutions to complex and highly integrated human factors and mechanical engineering challenges.
•    Execute new machine and equipment designs from concept to volume production at the subsystem, and system level.
•    Develop complex, high density electronics packaging, including specialized interconnect and contact technologies. 
•    Qualified applicants must have a minimum BA/BS degree in or Mechanical Engineering or relevant semiconductor equipment design experience.
•    Electro-mechanical design/analysis, capability required.
•    Understanding of systems architecture, and systems engineering is necessary.
•    Simple automation and mechanism design using slides, motors, and controls is helpful.
•    Proficient with SolidWorks CAD and PDM software.
•    Capable of developing hands-on prototypes and executing design verification plans in a mechanical lab setting.
•    Knowledgeable of fabrication technologies such as casting, molding, machining, sheet metal, PCBA assembly, necessary. 
•    Excellent communication and presentation skills required.

Basic Qualifications & Skills

 

 

•    Conceptualize, select and defend technical solutions to complex and highly integrated mechanical engineering problems
•    Define, direct, and participate in the design verification testing of design solutions.
•    Understanding customer requirements and finding solutions that fit within our existing mechanical product architecture
•    Experience working with E/M packaging layout and design.  Including sheet metal, plastics, cabling, PC Packaging, and manufacturing processes knowledge.
•    Demonstrated proficiency in the use of general drafting and design standards including ANSI Y14.5 and GD & T
•    Must be able to generate Mechanical design and documentation of components and assemblies, including generating complete detailed drawings of piece parts and assemblies
•    Must be self-motivated, team oriented, and “hands-on”
•    Ability to work across cultures and geographies to produce results
•    Excellent organizational, communication, and integration skills including the ability to foster and sustain communication between cross-functional groups located throughout the world
•    Electro-mechanical design/analysis skills required.- Strong analytical skills including finite element modeling and tolerance analysis
•    Update and complete engineering change orders using Teamcenter.  Must understand the use of PDM & CAD vaulting tools
•    Travel to customer sites, suppliers, or engineering sites located anywhere in the world.  Expected travel to be 5% - 10%
 

 

Education

 

•    BS or MS in mechanical engineering, or related field from an engineering institution
•    Minimum of 8 years of practical mechanical development experience.

 

This job requires the individual to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or be testing regularly in order to work in the Teradyne office.
