Organization & Role

 

Teradyne’s Storage and System Level Test systems utilize complex high-speed automation to manipulate semiconductor and storage devices, position them in test fixtures which simulate their real-life usage, and determine whether product quality levels have been achieved in the manufacturing process. 

 

  • You will be responsible for interpreting business requirements and developing system requirements and architectures for Teradyne’s System Level Test and Hard Disk Drive product lines with a focus on new product development, as well as supporting the product line’s goals around customer satisfaction, revenue, profitability and KPI’s.  You will also be responsible for identifying enabling technologies and staying current on market trends and industry standards.
  • Working closely with product marketing, you will identify what is needed to make our customers successful and win in our highly competitive market. Collaborate with our engineering groups to turn concepts into products.
  • You will also contribute to the development of a multi-generation product roadmap. You will be expected to stay up to date on competitive offerings and emerging market requirements and closely interact with customers.
  • Within areas of specialization, provide leadership for other team members on a technical basis. The role requires sophisticated development and communication skills – with the ability to quickly analyze problems, understand new technologies, prototype solutions, and communicate findings.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Participating in design of system requirements and architectures
  • Working with other senior technical staff to assist in developing and interpreting requirements and system designs
  • Exerting technical influence over multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness through knowledge and experience
  • Providing systems engineering function to projects and ensuring the vision of the system requirements follow through to system design and verification
  • Staying up to date with industry trends that impact your area of responsibility
  • You should be organized and be able to plan out tasks and activities for the supporting design groups
  • You will be able to create work breakdown structures and help define workflows

Basic Qualifications & Skills

 

  • 10+ years of experience in systems engineering and design
  • Experience in systems engineering processes and practices; specifically architecture, requirements, system performance and scalability
  • You should have multi-discipline experience/technical expertise in one or more of the following: system design of complex electromechanical systems; automation; thermal systems; controls; and software usability
  • You can define system-level software requirements and closely interface with software engineering on the design of those requirements
  • A track record of commercially successful product development
  • Sufficient technical breadth to interact with a multi-disciplined team
  • You can clearly express your ideas and concepts both written and verbally  
  • You have hands-on trouble shooting abilities to participate or lead root cause analysis to diagnose product performance or reliability issues
  • Experience developing semiconductor testers or semiconductor capital equipment
  • Experience interfacing with manufacturing, purchasing, product support, field service and program management
  • Work in an environment that is agile and fast paced

Education

 

 

  • BS/BA in a science or engineering discipline, ideally in mechanical engineering or electro-mechanical engineering; an MS is desired.
