In this newly created role in the tax department, you will be a key contributor and leader ensuring that Teradyne’s state and local compliance and R&D credit calculation is accurately prepared and filed with various authorities.
This position reports to the tax director and is responsible for state tax compliance, state tax provision, state audits and planning and the federal and state R&D credit calculations. Additionally, the IRA and CHIPs act tax credits are a new opportunity for Teradyne that will need to develop and managed.
Principal Duties and Essential Responsibilities:
- Review of state and local income tax compliance – approximately 50-100 returns.
- Review and approve monthly sales/use and personal property tax account reconciliations – approximately 70-100 returns.
- Supervise sales and use tax and personal property tax functions – approximately 10-20 returns.
- Assist with annual tax provision preparation.
- Managing the income and non-income state tax audits.
- Research and analyze state tax issues, monitor legislation.
- Support the assessment and implementation of federal and state planning.
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend business improvements and opportunities.
- Manage Teradyne’s US research and development (R&D) tax credit calculation and study including interviews with engineering team, developing survey tools and templates to document eligible credit, and preparing and defending annual filing with the IRS and external auditors.
- Oversees tasks and deliverables of one indirect tax professional.
Basic Qualifications, Experience, & Skills Required:
- Minimum 5 years of tax experience, including experience in conducting R&D credit studies and state tax at large high technology company.
- Experience or ability to learn financial reporting system, i.e. Oracle.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and written/oral communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task, be flexible and set priorities to meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Master's in taxation or CPA preferred
