New Product Manufacturing Engineer

Responsibilities:
A New Product Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for assisting in Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews through New Product Introduction process.  He/She is responsible for defining manufacturing process specifications, develop manufacturing process strategy for outsourced products, assembly and test fixture design including all fixture design related validations, build, documentation and handoff, creating and implementing Engineering Change Notices.


New Product Manufacturing Engineers must be able to work on cross-functional teams and to communicate with all levels of management. Candidates must be able to work independently and find creative ways to resolve problems using project management skills. Recognition of when a problem must be escalated is also critical.


Required Skills:
•    Build prototype units alongside engineering and comprehensively understand the build process.   Takes lessons learned and create detail assembly instructions for outsourcing to overseas CM.
•    Develop and provide training to assembly personnel onsite and at offshore contract manufacturers.
•    Creation and maintenance of BOMS, generation of ECOs.
•    Humanize production equipment though ergonomic and safety considerations
•    Conduct capacity planning and analysis
•    Experience in Solid Works and how to modify designs with it.
•    Monitor and drive quality improvement at suppliers and internally.


Desired Skills:
•    Background including the assembly of large complex electromechanical systems.
•    Understanding and assist in facility layouts for effective work flow.
•    Strong mechanical aptitude including knowledge of machined parts, sheet metal, and heating/cooling of high output assemblies. 
•    Experience working with overseas factories and contract manufacturers.
•    Ability to “wear multiple hats”.
•    Ability to provide onsite support at offshore contract manufacturers post Covid. Up to 20% travel during builds.


 Education / Experience:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering/ Industrial technology/engineering.
•    0-2 years of relevant experience.
