Opportunity Overview
The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration, support, maintenance, security, and continuous improvement of Teradyne's global Unix and Linux infrastructure. This role is focused on ensuring high availability, operational excellence, cybersecurity compliance, and platform modernization across Red Hat Enterprise Linux, HP-UX, Solaris, and related technologies.
A key responsibility of this position includes supporting cyber resiliency initiatives through vulnerability remediation, particularly for public-facing and business-critical systems. The role works closely with application owners, security teams, and infrastructure stakeholders to address security findings, implement best practices, and strengthen the organization's security posture using tools such as Rapid7, CrowdStrike, CyberArk, and other enterprise security solutions.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead complex infrastructure initiatives within a large-scale global environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure long-term Unix/Linux server operations through capacity planning, hardware and software upgrades, storage, memory, network enhancements, and system lifecycle management. Install, configure, monitor, troubleshoot, and support enterprise applications while maintaining operational documentation, runbooks, architecture diagrams, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Partner with Engineering and application teams to design, implement, configure, and optimize Unix operating environments that support business-critical design and manufacturing tools. Troubleshoot complex system, application, and performance-related issues.
- Create, maintain, and enhance standardized server and workstation images for corporate servers, engineering systems, desktops, laptops, and test platforms.
- Support cybersecurity initiatives by remediating vulnerabilities, implementing system hardening standards, and collaborating with application owners to improve the overall security posture of Unix environments.
- Perform root cause analysis, incident resolution, patch management, and continuous improvement activities to maximize platform performance, availability, and reliability.
- Serve as a key technical resource for Red Hat, HP-UX, and Solaris platforms, ensuring operational continuity, knowledge retention, and sustained support coverage within the Cebu time zone. Certifications and formal training in these technologies are highly desirable.

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience, with 5-8 years of Unix/Linux systems administration experience, preferably supporting Red Hat environments within a large global enterprise.
- Certifications and formal training in Red Hat, HP-UX, and Solaris are highly desirable.
- Strong hands-on experience with several of the following technologies: Red Hat, HP-UX, Solaris, VMware, DNS, NIS, LDAP, DHCP, SMTP, Apache, Samba, NFS, FlexLM, LSF, ClearCase, Shell and Perl scripting, LVM, VxFS/VxVM/VVR, RSYNC, SAN/NAS storage, FTP/SFTP, CyberArk, RSA, Veritas NetBackup, VCS Clustering, Red Hat Clustering, monitoring tools, patch management, server imaging, and network troubleshooting.
- Experience with enterprise cybersecurity tools and vulnerability remediation processes is an advantage, including platforms such as Rapid7, CrowdStrike, and CyberArk.
- Knowledge of VMS/OpenVMS operating systems is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex hardware, operating system, access, network, storage, and performance issues in a large-scale, globally distributed environment, while performing effective root cause analysis and implementing sustainable solutions.
