Opportunity Overview
As a critical member of Teradyne’s product test group, you will be responsible for supporting hardware engineering activities supporting test & measurement product lines in several revolutionary wireless, high speed I/O test solutions, and optical test technologies. This is a hands-on hardware engineering role focused on pre-post-ramp sustaining activities in the factory and field. It involves active participation across cross functional teams such areas Test SW, Firmware teams, Quality, New Product Introduction (NPI), R&D, Field Services, Application Engineering etc. This role will primarily be focused on supporting Teradyne’s manufacturing efforts at its Contract Manufacturer site.
- Troubleshoot hardware and root cause analog, digital, high speed optical, and RF issues to module and component level.
- Identify common HW failure patterns, draft plans to address them and use data analysis tools to optimize and improve test methods and limits to help deliver quality products.
- Set up and perform RF and precision photonics measurements, such as compression (P1dB), phase noise, gain, spurious emissions, S parameter measurements, BER, eye diagrams, jitter, optical power, wavelength, extinction ratio, and related photonics metrics.
- Use production and manufacturing knowledge to drive improvement in board and system designs.
- Consistent focus on overall HW yield enhancement, reliability improvement and other continuous improvement processes and procedures.
- Ensure all products leaving the factory meet the manufacturability, quality, functional specification, and cost requirements.
- Ensure production processes, assembly documentation and test procedures are in place to meet the highest outgoing quality standards.
- Manage and execute hardware deviations, change requests and Engineering Change Orders (ECO) during various manufacturing stages.
- Responsible for optimization of test parameters, test times, touch times, and test station designs with a goal to drive down manufacturing costs.
- Disciplined monitoring and communication of product status and any issues encountered throughout the manufacturing process.
- Manage technical communication between LitePoint teams and Contract Manufacturing (CM) during various stages of production build and become a pivotal part in conflict resolution and finding technical solutions.
- Implement technical debug plans and train test engineers and technicians to drive down debug and re-test time to optimize production and delivery costs.
- Work with third party vendors regarding component qualification and other characterization activities.
- Familiarity with PCBA schematics, PCBA layout and fabrication drawings, and electronic BOMs.
- Strong understanding and functional knowledge of various RF lab equipment such as Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Phase Noise Analyzers, Signal Analyzers, PXIe systems, tunable lasers, BERTs, DSOs, and TDRs.

- BA/BS (or equivalent) is required. MSEE preferred
- 8-10 years of experience in the areas of hardware engineering, product engineering, and/or failure analysis for RF and Optical systems and board level products.
- Deep expertise in Photonics & High-Speed I/O test and measurement solutions.
- Knowledge of high speed photonics and electronic test solutions, including PXIe optical modules, tunable lasers, BERT instruments, optical to electrical converters, and related platforms.
- Deep understanding of RF/Optical products and a technical understanding of RF/Optical design is a must.
- Prior RF and optical board design experience is a plus.
- Prior experience working on design and manufacturing Wi-Fi/Cellular testers, Optical, BERT, DSO, and TDR systems is required.
- Prior experience working with mm-wave products is a plus.
- Knowledge of PXI test solutions is a plus.
- Good troubleshooting, failure analysis, and problem-solving skills are essential.
- A collaborator with excellent communication and organizational skills is required.
- Must have persistent attention to detail and quality.
